1- I’m in Illinois and one of my outdoor girls is about 8’tall (6’wide) right now in a 50gallon fabric pot. Will that small of a pot hold enough nutrients in my soil to get me through flowering or should I top dress right before flower? I’m using a slightly modified version of SubCools supersoil recipe.
2- When should I expect to go into flower in the Midwest?
3- When I go into flower I’m planning on trimming “lolipopping” the bottom 1/3 of my plant. Does this include all the small side branches? Should I take off the big fan leaves off on the upper end of my plant to let more light in?
@TheShowMeHomie
This is the Oregon Huckleberry I got from you!
Idk what the super soil recipe is but I would just use guano top dressings maybe guano tea when it starts flowering …as far as flowering goes were really close the stuff I have outside has preflowers galore
Excellent job @Mongobongo it must feel good to see so many people growing these out
Ya that cage has me worried it should be trained through it at this point to help support it already if ya can I’d say take it down and throw a trellis net over it 5x5 opening or so and start working some branches through ,its abeautiful plant ! I’d say for being outdoors just clean up the bottom a bit so maintenance can be achieved easier as if now looks like it would be difficult to access it unless I’m not seeing it.
That is the second cage I put around this plant. The reason it not going through is because I was afraid that when it’s time to defoliate the plant I will have to open the cage up to do so… so what do you guys think, lolipop and defoliate now and start sending this girl through the second cage or wait till it starts to flower and then do it?
I don’t know how dedicated to that cage you are but if you were to start bending it and tieing it it would become a 10 foot wide bush pretty quickly you are doing an excellent job
Would you be able to get in to the center and do some work is the question … will you be able to grab some branches and pull them through the openings look small to me I’d definitely would be cutting some Acess points into the cage check out “MENDO dope “ in how they get at their caged plants !
Fuck ya, I can get this thing way wider! I was thinking i was pretty good at 6’ but LET’S GO! As far as access ya the cage is small but I can cut some bigger access points… its still going to be very difficult to get to the center of the plant though so I might take the cage off and lolipop today… think I’m good to do that now??
What I’m talking about is taking the branches and tieing them over in a arch shape basically spreading the plant out to as wide of a foot space as possible the last couple weeks of veg we got will give them a chance to fill in before flower but if you don’t want to mess with that it will be just fine you got yourself a monster on your hands
If you start the process early I’ve seen them hit 12-15’ in diameter straight into shitty red clay Missouri soil…we both know you got better soil on that side of the river
