im gonna assume they are not viable but illtoss them in papertowel and see if anything happens
Yes, I can normally do the same. I just didnāt get the idea of binning seeds that donāt sink as most I soak do not but still germinate normally. Soaking is really just to soften the shells. I have had some seeds crack open and pop a tap root in the 12 to 24 hour soak but never cared if they sink or not.
i just transferred them in a plastic container with paper towel put them on top of fridge ill take a look in a day or two
I just got done popping one of those seeds that you find that are white feel hollow and float like ping pong balls in a solo cup I stuck in the bottom of another plant after a 2 day peroxide and bottle water soak.Took 4 weeks to pop but it popped and the plant actually has some pep to it.They can fool you sometimes canāt they?Ive had perfect tiger stripes throw duds and these are thriving like they got water from the Simpson nuclear power plant
i guess that you cant judge a seedling by its outter shell
Take them out one by one and pop them in your mouth feel the ridge on the seed and crack it till you feel it pop but not shear the bean.Like cracking a sunflower seed in your mouth with out ripping out the shell meat.pop them back in overnight and put in paper towel in the morning you should have tails in about 2 days.I do it every time and I almost never have a dud.Gets real stubborn ones to pop sometimes.Might help your troubles theres something in human saliva that helps pop beans Iām convinced of it
Think I found something cool on that from coots.DJ short talks about how Mexican farmers showed him the trick.I swear by it
My turn. This is my opening salvo for 2023 - a few select strains all photo-period, might as well try a few of the nuggets of wisdom here to see which strain germinates bestā¦
In the water, and put in a groupā¦
So the box fits over to give them darkness their hearts desireā¦
Letās see which ones thrive, and which ones dive. The ones that make it will all end up outside later in mid to late May.
not sure what temps they are at, but when i did the float tec on mine i used a heat mat keeping them around 75 f. or so, and added a bit of 3% peroxide to the water. had tails on some in less that a day. so far 10 for 10 using this method. hope you have the same results!
For those that are kinda reluctant to pop a seed in their mouth, I provide an easy alternative.
Sanitized Tweezers, flat surface, gentle squeeze. Heck, you can even put a little bit of saliva down if you want! It really does work for those tough, reluctant seeds.
My seeds germ in 3 days in summer, in winter, by day four Iām grabbing the space heater. Seems to be the biggest factor.
Talking about tempsā¦ Do you vernalize your seed?
welcome to og @jasonbourone id like to point you to the right places but if @Maddawg wants to help, id be thankfull, hes a real compass who knows his way around
sry maddawg if your a she
i assumedyour prnoun since its not madbitch your a he
im sure you will enjoythe comunity everyone is really helpfull and knowledgeable we all share the love for the plant
I donāt see how you all get them to floatā¦mine always sinkā¦ I could see planting them directly on top of perlite thoughā¦
im guessing you dont rinse when you do dishes so soap must mix eith water and break surface tension
in just guessing here
some just wipe dry without rinsing soap off
Just add some drops of 3% peroxide, that will kill patogens and bubbles will help them float ā¦
Thatās what I was thinkingā¦but Iām testing the perlite now. Planted directly on top of perlite, plastic coverā¦
lettuce know how it goes
im feeling veggy punny
I store them in the fridge, so unintentionally so. I donāt know if any vernalization is necessary with any Cannabis. I suspect not, but canāt back up that statement.
In 90+F water I can get most stuff to crack in 24 hours. Occasionally you get an odd duck that just needs a lot of time but with 99% of seeds itās not an issue.
No additives, no humic acid, no vitamins or fermented nonsense, no beneficial bacteria, no peroxide, no this-and-thats necessary. Just tapwater nā tupperware cups.
