Float tech germination

That was an awesome post man! You nailed it with the hydrogen peroxide, it adds oxygen which is needed to stimulate germination in a lot of seeds and it can also help with penetrating the seed coat. Other things to try for seeds that won’t germ would be to lightly scratch or nic the seed coat which can help break dormancy, if nothing elsr works and you REALLY need those seeds to germ you can try a low concentration cytokinin soak.

I’ve been germination my seeds using hydrogen peroxide and water in a glass covered to keep light out and I have gotten really great numbers. You probably don’t have to do the triple wash because that is mostly used to dilute chemical concentration to ppm or ppb and the hydrogen peroxide you used is safe. If you were sterilizing seeds in bleach or alcohol then the triple wash is essential. But, your results speak for themselves so keep triple washing if you prefer!

Blueberry Hashplants, scarified in a pill bottle with a 220 grit sandpaper tube. Shot glass, distilled water. Stopped keeping them in the dark long ago. Seems counterproductive, when pot seeds in nature don’t seem to need that? I don’t really know about that, other than observation

Hey so I was surprised about the dark germination also. It was until I left one of our research plots at dark after a late day of planting and in the morning we had shoots popping up.
It was wild!

I dont think light is a necessary cue for germination in cannabis, but I havent seen any info that light hurts germ, and your results here are impressive. Tap roots are looking real good!!

ive got a pid with a heat mat set at 80F and seeds are starting to show if this run turns out a wieners fest im not using heat matt again im gonna investigate what sub was talking about to old E and Bleezy

@amumayuk, how did your attempt at the Float turn out ?

Seeds are normally Underground… I believe thats where the Dark component comes in

i tried float tech with some bag seeds cuz i didnt wanna wast any effort with beens i didnt feel like risking and out of like 12 12 broke the shell showed a tail but when put into soil only two popped out so i opted for jiffy pellets for a more secure way but things didnt go much better

This is the method I have been using for probably 10+ years now. I’ve tried other methods but always come back to this.

Shot glass. Fill it 3/4 with water. Squirt a bit of 3% h2o2 into the water and drop the seeds in.

If left undisturbed, they usually always stay floating until they show a tap root.

For difficult to germinate seeds, I make a fresh seed sprout tea and add 2-3 drops to the water in the shot glass. Putting the shot glass in a warm spot also helps a lot.
