You might not have the skills it takes to become a master gardener, but you can always master container gardening. All you need is a container, your choice of plants, and some potting soil to get started. But for a complete newbie, what is container gardening?
A string garden is one of the few container gardening ideas under $100 that is borrowed from Asian culture. It is inspired by a Japanese gardening technique called Kokedama which uses strings and mosses to create a lovely hanging garden. For this, you will need the following materials:
Peat soil and akadama (bonsai soil) with a ratio of 7:3
Cotton thread
String such as hemp, sisal, or twine
Gloves
Scissors
Dry sphagnum moss
