Creoles are a group within the hardnecks. I’ve grown several Creole varieties, and by far the best one has been Pescadero Red.
Of course the “soft necks” do fine also; Susanville, Inchelium Red, and Okrent are good ones.

This is what we got the first year attempting to grow garlic. The bulbs didn’t end up as big as we would’ve thought. But, then again, we sort-of left them do their own thing except for the occasional weeding. We ended up tossing quite a few simply because they were tiny.
We had planted several varieties and labeled them. Hard and soft. As is typical though, as soon as we harvested them they all got mixed up.
What area are you? Hard neck variety is for more northern areas while soft neck tends to be in southern areas.
