Final Bloom event of the season I assume… This Queen of the night plant has thrown four separate flowering events in 2024 so who knows maybe she has another surprise for me. Always love the spider like structure in the middle of the flower… Maybe some sort of evolutionary trait to deter critters

Well that, my friend, is quite the bloom event!! That shot with all three blooming flowers is so beautiful! And I’ve got to agree, that little “spider” coming out of the center is very cool!

Who’s that in the background, asks the nosy old man. A cricket player?

Haha funny you ask it’s actually a knight in armor from Bill Shakespeare’s era…jk. Some junk I found near the trash dump a couple of years ago. He’s got some rust but kind of scares birds from flying into our back window over and over.

Oh yeah, old Bill and his Globular Theater. I remember him well. And, in fact, here’s one of his plays being performed on Broadway (yes, that Broadway) by The Flying Karamazov Brothers and a large group of actors with various vaudeville/circus skills (including a knife thrower!). It’s real Bill and I find it wet your pants funny. Of course, I’m a long time juggler. Highly recommended, particularly if you’re high.

The dump wouldn’t take it??! An excellent score, and actually working to pay for his keep! :+1:

Nice man I’m going to check that out on my break this afternoon. Honestly the only reason I grabbed it the thing is because he’s lite as a feather… Maybe 5 lb total. I am slightly worried that yellow jackets or some of our biting stinging critters might build a nest inside of it.

My PNW harvest wasn’t so great this year, but I got some nice poblanos.

Are Poblanos a type of pepper? They look superb!

They’re one of the best ones for stuffing.

Yeah, they are spectacular for Chile rellenos. Once dried they are poblanos and make excellent enchilada sauce! We also like to grill them on skewers with chunks of onion and seasoning, makes fine finger food.

Edited lol: once dry they become anchos.

Anyone know what these are? They are in my tomato pots.

Never seen them before. The bottom part kinda looks like an oyster but then there’s that trumpet part. I dunno…

Repotted and moved all my tropical plants indoors for the Winter today. I was literally done and about to go wash up then decided to snip a couple extra pothos cuttings to add to a pot of cuttings and wasn’t paying attention so I snipped right through the cutting and in to my pinkie finger behind it. Stung like Hell but not a bad enough cut for stitches. I don’t know if it’s terrible luck to cut myself when I was done or good luck since I didn’t cut myself before I was done.

No idea what yall been up too lately?

I got a load of some Ash wood very cheap, some nice 3" x 6ft peices. May try my hand at making a few cutting boards or something.

For now, the scraps burn great :+1:

Here’s a tip… Fortex pole beans. These are the tastiest pole beans I ever grew. The only issue is they fruit slowly. Offering 2 at a time. Beans are pretty long. So you need to plant many (now I know) But trust me on this, they are very tasty, round profile with zero strings. Just plant 3x. Going forward, it’s my only bean choice.
