Growers Choice ROI-E720 LED Grow Light

Been doing a lot of research on LEDs lately and the Growers Choice ROI-E720 LED Grow Light seems to be the best bang for your buck that i could find(with a reasonable warranty). Anyone have any experiance with this specific light? love to hear any good or bad things you have to say about it before i bite the bullet!

What’s not to like? It is a beast of a light and a decent price.

It also one of the few LED brands i could find locally which is a plus for me.

That seems a bit expensive

this one is the cheapest price I could find but only end up saving $100-200 after shipping from the US and the conversion of CAD to USD.

I guess for 720 watts it not really that expensive. I have a spider farmer sf4000 thats drawing 585 watts and think I only paid about $600 but im pretty high atm so I might be mistaken lol

How much heat does that thing give off? I was seriously considering getting like 4 SF4000’s instead… would probably lead to better coverage in my 7x10 space. Only thing is my ceiling is pretty low at 6 foot so im worried about heat.

In a 7 x 10 you will need 2 lights with only a 6ft ceiling. Leds dont put off very much heat compared to an hps. My room is also only 6ft high and I have no issues but tall sativa would be a problem unless you scrog.
My last harvest was 1.5 lbs and harvest before that was 1.7lbs and that from my 3.5’ x 5’ grow space
You could always make your space smaller unless your looking to grow a large number of plants

I am a lover of indicas so no sativas in my garden! 1.5-1.7 sounds pretty impressive in that space. Is that using 1 SF4000?

well the full room is 7x10 but i dont want the plants to be wall to wall… Id like to be able to walk around the room. I suppose it will be more like a 5 x 8 canopy ideally.

Yeah just one light. You can fit 6 nice sized plants under that light more smaller plants if you wanted to go the way.

It’s an excellent light. We are very satisfied with them. I feel it’s a direct competitor of the gavita 1700e and it’s much less expensive

Well, it really can’t get better than gavita, altough I find the price a bit over the top. When I was looking for a light for my 4x4 I wanted to go for the 1700e but it just was out of budget. I went for the iL8x from iluminar. It has very similar specs and also a 5 year warranty thats what sold it for me. Also the 650R from HLG is banging right now

Not for the quality you get. I have been doing lots of research.

Do you know which brand chips they use? The iluminar iL8x, I can’t find info on their web.

Check this blog, some of points should focus on when growers choice LED grow light.
The chips brand(Osram, Samsung, BridgeLux, Epistar or others), model(lm301h, lm301b, lm301d, 2835,etc), LEDs qty(some wattage, more chips, less light decay), PPFD uniformty(important), warranty and other service

@Bostonbud
this is exactly the conversation i had with the guy at my grow shop. i asked about the gavita and he said it’s way overpriced and recommended the growers choice 720 instead. do you have any update on them?
