Growing Belushi

What ever happened to Growing Belushi. Loved seeing Jim and his cousin bickering and the occasional Ackroyd appearance.

If I recall it was mostly said to be dramatized anyway. Belushi didn’t do the actual farming.

It’s a show on TV about a cannabis farm. Beats the Kardashians. Where are any other shows about growing? There used to be a few but all died off during covid.

I must say that Belushi’s an idiot, riding John’s coattails to fame and fortune based on little to no talent of his own, not that his bro John, had much more talent. For whatever reason SNL decided to make John what he was, and Jim cashed in after John’s demise.

Well I guess I would love one that was better. That’s all.

I thought Leaves of Grass was pretty good even if fictional

There’s a documentary type movie called for madmen only, about Del Close, it’s goes into SNL and belushi and the first days of improv, which you guessed it, has some roots in military LSD experiments :exploding_head:

Sorry, kind of off topic. They smoked alot of weed though.

Love this movie, Richard Dreyfus knocked it outta the park with his small role hahaha. Fun flick all the way around and I think the only time in large media around pot I heard “terpenes”.

Another funny thing about that movie is the credits was 90% Ed Norton and his buddy Tim Blake Nelson. Quickest way to learn his name was to see it over and over, lol

I think Growing Belushi is available on streaming. Maybe on HBO Max? They probably didn’t make very many episodes though.

Chopped Cannabis was an alright show if you like cooking competitions.

I really enjoyed the show High Design. It’s like an HGTV home makeover except it’s all dispensaries.

Thank you for bringing this one up! I heard of it awhile back and still haven’t seen it. IIRC it was directed by Tim Blake Nelson (thank you for also reminding me of his name, I was going to say “one of the guys from O Brother, Where Art Thou?” )

My memory is hazy but I remember the movie Humboldt County being a pretty good indie comedy/drama. I watched that one on my buddy’s Netflix account when streaming was a new thing. He wasn’t a pot smoker at the time so he judged me hardcore for it :joy:
