Well all the plants but the middle aged plants had no issues over the weekend, that bottom right cabinet for whatever reason the watering timers stayed off or never cycled so the front two plants were quite badly wilted and the back right not looking the best, so ran some feed water through them last night and was gonna pull any this morning if they were too far gone but the sprung back, just need to go in a do some cleanup now on a couple.
the rest are doing good, and the little ones most are all females, still some indeterminate but likely females as you typically dont have late showing males.
Old ones are done, just need to dedicate some time to chopping them down, cleaned up the haggard ones that had the watering timer issue im tempted to toss the two as i have enough bud and neither really excite me enough to keep them.
And if those two are removed does allow me to up pot all the little ones which are all fighting now.
Re-potted the youngest plants removed two and split them up on some reservoirs likely i’ll still give them a shuffle and maybe a reduction if i go through and pick the ones i like most.
The oldest are doing alright nothing to really talk about with them, really they are just running as there close to the end and i haven’t started anything to fill there spot, with @ReikoX autos on the left getting a little wild had to flop some tops but they may have to get the cabinet to themselves and spread out or thinned up a bit kinda run out of height with them for my liking.
And the two eldest plants were chopped Friday night, no glamor shots just the sequence of events with the repotting and needing space for the younger plants and having time to do all that after the kid was down for the night.
Was 430g wet so should be in that 90-100g range off those two once dried and final trimmed.
Just wanted to put a note in here, gonna try something on the right side cabinet that being nutrient restriction at that stretch/flower growth transition, So just topped up their reservoirs with some gypsum water.
Idea behind nutrient restriction at this point is it stunts the plant initially where it will take up less space in comparison to letting them run, and you transition back into feed after 5-7 days and the plant recovers and doesn’t really loose a whole lot of capacity for yield but its overall foot print is reduced to the point where one gains due to a higher density per area is say one was to add more plants.
For me though its more about trying it as another technique to manage size, as when things are happy in these pots the plants fight quite abit and i get into a situation where they are overcramped and stretch more than id like and run out of headroom, which in the end i end up snipping a bunch of growth away just to slow them down and make things fit anyways.
I’ve been doing some work with too much stuff in too small of a footprint. My veg plants stretched more than usual because there was no light penetration from the leaf density at the tops. My flowering plants I didn’t tie open, also because of space issues.
Leggy in veg, dense in flower, it’s worked out as higher density per area.
Can’t say much about the nute restriction but it’s a neat idea.
Im use to the cramped spaces and management techniques for them, but big issue usually is i only have so much height so when plants fight for light and aren’t hindered by my other trials its becomes a mass of leaves and stems and i have to go in and routinely take out mass and fold tops over but its sometimes not enough.
Kinda the thought is like when you get budsicles due to issues, but doing so in a planned or controlled fashion.
Do i need to cut back nutrients at say 21days or 28, or when they are starting to look a certain way, say they have filled out the space width wise but now are going crap i have no room and starting to bolt.
My thought is just once im maxed out area wise ideally id want the plant to stop and focus on bud production and sure it will grow to accommodate that bud wise but all the excess stretching i don’t need, cause you have remove all the lowers and lollipop as that stuff is just waste in the end, but if my plants have say 25cm or more headspace vs 4cm
What spurred this is the following, im started it at the height control techniques part but the rest is all worth the watch
Well… back right in the top cab has hit the light, haphazardly flopped it but ill need to go in and N some stems if i don’t cull one of the other plants to make space.
Also changed my watering slightly this morning, pushing out the interval to 30mins which also in turn drops down the amount of cycles in a day as i have it only going from 430am to 12pm.
And my LCD is starting to go on the one light timer, but considering where they are placed and its been years i have zero complaints, another annoying thing is my down button on the top cab watering timer fried by me so i can only adjust up though it cycles over, just an annoyance which i can change it out as i have spares but otherwise works.
Apparently has been a week since i last updated… didn’t think it was that long.
Removed the stretchy plant, lopped some tops as they were hitting the light reorged and removed a few plants, back to two chambers now but i can see once i chop that old one likely ill get rid of the two lanky ones and the small one in the other cab just to go back down to 4, need to start some more seeds though.
Oldest has ambered up on the extremity’s but is still throwing pistils, looks rough but was one that went dry aways back likely its just gonna get the chop this week regardless as im personally done with it.
Others are doing fine and removed the lanky ones, also started up some more seeds.
Chopped the eldest plant, should get about 50g off of it, defoliated the rest slightly just as they were tightly packed and i wanted them to have a bit of breathing room and to uncover some lower buds, also have some seedlings going just waiting on one more to pop soil which looks like it will be today or its gonna fail as its at that stage, as in growing a tap but susceptible as it hasn’t pushed its shell off yet and has been slow.
eldest getting there need to swap out its res maybe to a half feed as its basically empty as of this morning, little ones calling that other day day 0 as the last ones i was waiting for im just gonna pull, ones slow and the others a tri, so will likely have two full reservoirs up into they show sex then who knows after that.
As for the middle aged ones they are just putting on weight at the moment.
Eldest looks like its still going, with a couple of the middle age ones looking like they are not that far away mainly the back two, and the little ones i need to hook up to reservoirs as they are in go mode.
Eldest auto is going through a second flush of growth, not gonna rule out that it wasn’t my issue as with the reduction of other plants it got moved into a brighter “area” and could of tricked it into a last burst stage.
Eldest is still going, the others decided to chop two today when i had the time so the right two from the second pic are gone, and shuffled that eldest plant down into the same cabinet, should get about 75g from the bud on those two smaller plants.
And the young ones are moving along looking to be all females too.
Was low on likes when I found your journal… just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying/enjoyed checking it out. You have a beautiful, clean, good productive grow area. Love it!
