Growing With Mr.Sparkle : 2023

Day 9F/9

Did a thing… Put the photos into smaller bins with wicks and spread them out and removed the two autos, guess we will see how this goes.

The autos are growing, should consider auto watering later this week.

And some new ones, not quite up may call day 0 on wednesday, as some are just now considering popping out with others needing a bit more time, im not expecting a full count on these or at least on the vigorous side, but always time to start more seeds especially once males show in the other cabinet.

Oh and swapped back fully to the F90 bridgeluxs

Day 11F/11/0

The Photos are perking up after the transplant, done a little management as far as spreading them out.

Hooked up the autowater’s last night, just running a 1.5ec of Jacks in a 2:1 ratio to calnit atm, already can tell ones a male and a few females, also running my light at 75w which i might keep it at through the entire cycle.

And the youngens

@Mr.Sparkle I meant to ask a while back but forgot until now! What adhesive are you using for the aluminum foil to stick to your systems lids?

And do you spray down the aluminum or the lid when applying?

Many kind thank you’s in advance.

Been using the safety blanket mylar as of late but with the plastic side up aka the less shiny side, i was finding the aluminum foil or the mylar if the shiny side was up they would corrode easily due to the feed water leaving salt deposits and even though reflectivity wise aluminum foil is better if you ever want to replace it its a royal pain and crinkles and rips alot easier during application so the mylar makes it easier as it doesn’t rip essentially when applying it and taking it off for a tad less efficiency reflectivity wise.

Saying that glue i use Super 77 its on the pricier side for spray glue but ive been using it for decades and it just works compared to some others so i always have a can on hand for whatever project i have that needs some spray glue, as for spraying i do both usually with a light coat and a bit more in corners but you can get away with just doing the mylar/foil as that way if you have any wrinkles they will stick to themselves otherwise you have a flap that just doesn’t hold its self down and snags on stuff.

Also you may see me go the ghetto route on the binned plants and just trow some foil over the the bin around the stalks just to see as they are bottom watering so i can get away with that.

Day 14F/14/3

Binned plants sucked through their water, filled up the lower reservoir this morning with 1g/.5g a L of jacks and calnit, purple wookie still doing the best out of what survived.

These are starting to take off, need to top up their reservoirs as well today, also looking at them we have 6 females out of the 8 the front two in the center being males, i’m considering reducing to four plants, that being two of each type and up-potting them to let them run.

As for the youngens they are moving along with just the one lemon pie having some issues, started a floor seed i had found and set on a ledge the other day, so if it takes off it will replace that LP my best guess is it will be some ogreberry type seed but who really knows and thats the fun of randoms.

Day 16F/16/5

Binned plants going through alot of water though i think alot of it is just the coco holding onto it which has been probably about 3.5-4 liters since saturday morning, otherwise for no pumps and just wicking and considering their rough start i might do more of these bins int he future for photos or the likes, liking the simplicity, i do expect water ec levels ill need to adjust over time to dial things in and wicks replaced at least once maybe twice a cycle.

The older autos, removed the two males and made selections reducing to two of each and then up potting them to the bigger pots, kinda why they are looking a bit droopy atm which ill just have to watch to dial in watering amount again till they take off, as its a bit better to run them light on a repot than too heavy cause then the roots explore.

As for the little ones gonna have to setup the autowaters in a bit, plus notice the backup random seed in the corner which i planted last night after throwing a tail.

Day 18F/18/7

Photos are moving along and starting to throw out some trichromes.

The middle autos are doing well, though a mistake has been made, front right is a male which either i mixed up or the more likely possibility is i mistaken it for a female as its pollen sacs are pointy and those plants were on a slower end to show vs the left side plants, so there is gonna be some shuffles ones the younger ones show there sex.

As for the young ones, need to get them hooked up, and there running at about 60-65w atm “400ppfd est”.

Day 21F/21/10

Binned photos doing well, Purple Wookie is starting to throw some colors and the Centripetal Force had some nice smells going with it , need to break out some pollen for them this weekend possibly and hit a branch on each.

Mid aged autos still going, still need to chop the male, and the one left hand plant i moved to the back otherwise it just would of obscured the rest with it taking off.

And the little ones, looking slightly off though i heavily watered them last night so i just assume its that atm and if it doesn’t improve either a feed or root issue.

Day 23F/23/12

Binned photos doing their thing, need to hit them with some pollen.

Mid aged autos , removed the male and brought over and up potted a lemon pie just cause its from fem seeds.

And younger ones need to get the waters going as im noticing some issues from inconsistent watering.

Day 25F/25/14

Hit two branches with some pollen from @ReikoX not seeing any changes yet so may douse them on the weekend with more pollen if its low viability.

Mid aged autos, left side stretching and being all thin sativa like in structure, other doing its thing with the LP picking up, see how things roll out.

And the youngens had a stumble transitioning to the auto water’s but have picked up last night and today so we will see them start to go.

Spent the morning out and about, brought the lady and her cousin out to a Wool Expo this morning and picked up some “sock balls” as i call them for myself, which i just pass to my sock knitter aka the lady lol  , and while we were in the area headed over to the best disc golf shop around which im never out that way and where paying for shipping is cheaper than gas so stopped by and picked up a couple new discs not that i need more utilizing the “n+1 rule” lol, and one would think blue is my favourite color, it isn’t though its up there.

Day 28F/28/17

Photo’s doing well, thinking the pollen was non viable but will run these out regardless and reveg them possibly and make some clones and such.

Mid aged autos, got some lanky ones on the left, which i took care of that back apex by flopping it again after this picture.

The little ones doing kinda meh, think i waited to long to get on the autowater’s so they stunted a little and are now starting to transition into that first phase of flowering while having their root zone being all different with the waterings, gonna start some more seeds and likely reduce these.

Is a “Wool Expo” a store or an event?

Event, think artisans fair centred around wool :man_shrugging:.

Day 30F/30/19

Photos doing their thing, and yeah pollen didn’t take, also the purple wookie has been consuming its lowers for whatever reason possibly just eating its stores from upper bud development.

Mid aged autos also moving along, the lanky plants on the left currently there is still no discernible trichome production going on, i can see the nodal calyxs have some just nothing anywhere else on the plant, have to wait for actual bud production though so far looks wise im not expecting much, they are filling out the space though.

And the little ones, culled some and the others have some issues, think it boils down to the pH was creeping high “6.3” just cause of my starting range, and also this latest coco has so many fines in it that unless the plant is consuming the water its getting it quite easy to over water and waterlog the pots. Started some more seeds regardless with the cull but may be trying some wicked pots for consistency and see how the little pots handle it.

Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your threads. All of them have got great pics, great info, and well put together. Due to your DIY lighting thread, I’ve decided that at some point in the near future, I’ll be building my next light setup. Also love the grow cabinets… Super clean :ok_hand:t2:

Thanks for the kind words, as for the lights honestly unless you need to make something specific space wise commercial options are the way to go now adays as the cost is now down to the point with sales where buying prebuilt cost the same as the diy route or cheaper, so that thread is heading the way of the dinosaurs.
