Growing with Mr.Sparkle : 2024

had them out on the patio over the weekend as i was away camping so they slowed right down and went a little lanky even though they were before hand due to the low light levels i was giving them.

Repotted them into some cups and buried their stems, also pulled 5 seedling that were weak or had issues.

Back in the cabinets now as of yesterday and only under 40w of light atm, need to give them a feed but needed to make some pH calibration solution today so i can do so with an accurate meter.

Well guess i haven’t updated in awhile, also the picture is what happens when you do check in on your plants in couple days with one previously to this photo wilted from thirst.

Anyways thinned a bunch of them down just gonna a do a repot on the 4 older ones eventually leaving that lone male to collect some pollen from and chop, its already dropping some dust though.

The new ones are fresh with them coming up around the start of this last weekend, plan is to let them run out till selected down and or show sex then up pot.

Also ive committed and picked up some new panels for a build that being im rebuilding my closet from my currently way under utilized three chamber setup and reducing it down to a single slightly wider and taller chamber, even though one of my current chambers is more than enough. Why the future change, well you just end up going different directions than what you had previous planned and had run for years, that and i rather spend my time on life elsewhere vs maintaining three chambers when in full go.

But before i can get the new build going ill have to pickup a few more parts just cause i will be dismantling and building with plants needing a place to be.

Glad to see you back with another update

Best of luck with the changeup for that closet space. It sounds like you have a good plan and it’s gonna help you more easily maintain the garden in the future :+1:

very cool
one place will be a much better imo, until you know how to automate it in completely autonomous way. i have some thoughts about it in my guerilla grows, since I can only get to my place only few times a month
so best luck with that

what is your sizes? what the light gear will you have?

I will be reducing down to about 4sqft vs the bit over the 9sqft I have now, and lights will just be what I’m running now “bridgelux f90 strips” except running off my top cabinets driver which is a 150w, depending on the layout I may just use the top cabinets panel or direct mount the strips to the roof like my bottom cabs.

Decissions yet to be made are where my filter will be whether above this new cab taking up some shelf space or out the side right near the top of the new cab kinda tucked out of sight when in a push thru fashion, or I can mount in within the chamber as a pull thru setup but that will mean I’ll only be gaining about 2-3" of height vs the 10" the new setup will allow, so likely it will be the former options.

and here I am thinking he’d be scaling up
and even with half his former footprint he’ll be outgrowing me

be nice :green_heart:

Had second and triple thoughts when I layed up the new door size today, the height even though I pre measured and knew what it would look like still seemed BIG at least to me and all my years micro growing, but have to remind myself that it doesn’t mean that a filter may take up a good portion of the eventual new height or that I may go back to pots ontop of res lids again instead of being inset.

Well they took off with a repot and on the auto waters, also up potted the little ones just before this photo.

Also currently the other cabs are dismantled internally just waiting on me to get a new carbon filter and getting a weekend trip over before i rip them all apart.

Chopped the top off one plant as it was going to be too tall at the stage it currently is at, also removed one of the little one as it was a male, but otherwise have been putting very very little effort into these.

So all the old ones were hit very early with some pollen making just the inter nodes have a couple seeds leaving all the buds untouched.

But to share in my thought process of these mixed autos and my selection process for doing seeds.

Here are the four plants that came out of the ones i started a few weeks back

Selection wise i always start with what has visible trichome production and the heavier the better as there is no indication to me that delayed trichome production will warrant better end results as really just that they will underperform in the end for what i want.

Next is plant structure, vigor, quickness to flower or any deemable good characteristic that aligns with what i want.

Then its smell on trichome/leaf/calyx pinch even if the other two points are super weak or don’t warrant much then smell can trump them all but the other two points are of a higher priority for making better plants imo with smell being the redeeming or winning characteristic for early selections.

So take this one it has the best trichome production out of the lot, bit more wispy bud structure wise and plant wise atm, also has a unique long stemmed fan leaves which will be very easy to pluck fans leaves for space management and at harvest so a bonus and its base plant structure is compact to the point where SOG or compact growing will be easier.

This one late onset and also not much visible production wise, would be better for outdoors due to the longer and slower change over to flower plus this plant wanted to be big being the biggest of the lot and having it top already cut off for management, smell is whatever and likely it was gonna have slight purple buds in the end, so doesn’t fit my wants much.

Decent early production, and bud structure and plant structure show to me that it will produced spread out individual buds that will be in a more compact structure which is great for trimming and harvest appeal and mangement wise as far as say mold chances is alot less due to the spread out nature but that also means it wants the space laterally which can be an issue for me.

Last one, quite healthy leaf wise considering the neglect issues they all had, not much visible trichome production, bud structure and plant structure is quite dense which will lead to overlapping leaves and packed together buds which will harbor higher mold chances, smell is alright .

So two have been removed just cause well i always have more than i need and under performing plants don’t need more energy from me as they will be a waste in the end whether time energy and or sitting in a bag till it oxidizes and i compost it as ill be consuming the better stuff. Also gives the next ones in line more space.

It really is amazing the weight you get from such a limited space. You truly are an artist.

Hi @Mr.Sparkle just found the thread really cool work what’s the average height when finished

In these chambers not much, not counting reserviors and pot height it’s about 20-22" to play with the cabinets use 30" doors

Been neglecting them just with res fills when needed and flopping the two younger plants tops, also knowing there is some nutrient mis balances that being K excess but calcium deficient which my guess is caused by the former as there should be more than enough calcium in the mix.

Also this round and last ive been using megacrop A part as my base and its just a bit off compared with to the jacks i was using up even considering being adjusted for elemental ppm, though my involvement on these last two grows has also been nill so definitely a good portion of that offness is on me i figure but also not the whole story. I’ll figure it out in time and go back to “jacks” when i run out would love to get there 0-12-26 stuff but dont need a 25lb bag and or costing alot for a small amount due to shipping and availability up here.

Anyways plants wise just gonna toss the two on the left and the right side is in that 8-9 week range with the front plant visibly showing its in its done stages, back plant being better and will be going a bit longer but also showing its in end cycle mode.

Hey Bud. Everything is looking great. it’s always fun to stop in and see what you’re running and how you’re doing. have a good one Senor Sparkle’s. Be safe out there.

So back there on Saturday “shortly after the pic above” i nixxed the two younger plants and started to dismantle the closet with the intent to keep one chamber going to finish out those older two plants and dry them in it…

Well sequences of events and how things had to get dismantled, everything got tore down, keeping a couple panels for the new build and just the old filter box temporarily hooked up on the floor to dry the buds i proceeded to chop on the sunday as its too wet and cold to have them dry on the deck and to stinky for in the house somewhere without a filter.

So just need to put some time in to get the new panels cut and then build out the new cabinet, though im in no rush i want to refine and reduce all the grow stuff i have which is scattered from there normal places plus all the other stuff i had in my closet so its decent incentive to get it done so i can clean up other areas in the house as well.

Beautiful growspace and plants, can’t wait to see you post on your new build :grinning:

Not having much experience with Autoflowers but eager to try some, this is a very motivational thread :fire:

Good job pollinating, you have some seeds to run now :raised_hands::100:

oh i have plenty of seeds to run like in the multiple 10k+ range even after tossing a bunch, but planning to go back to my churning turnover hunting for stuff i like and starting some seed branches for fun.

So that light dusting of just the nodal calyxs, you know figuring maybe 50ish seeds keeping some buds and continuing on, well thats a big nope how about 275ish, always more than you figure
