I’ve been recently suggested to go with coco for a microgrow autoflower project i’m working on so i’m gonna try it out.

If you want to go straight salts get some Jack’s 3-2-1. Part A, Part B, and Epsom Salt. Mix to the 3-2-1 ratios for the whole run.

You can cut back on the Cal-Nit in later flower, and switch to their Jacks Finish which reduces their N.

Ph to 5.8. Jacks likes it lower. There is a good video from them on the topic which I will post if I can find it.

You can buy smaller more manageable quantities on Amazon or Ebay…

Right on buddy. Jack’s is where my head is. Cheap! Going to be using Jack’s 20-20-20 for veg. Have a bottle of GH Calmagic a buddy threw to me that I’ll use as needed also. Epsom also as needed. Later after flip, planning to transition to GH Maxibloom as it has ratios I want and I have prior experience using it. Planning to finish off with Jack’s 5-12-26 late in flower to keep N low like you said, and also to boost K.

I could only find the promix general, which is semi-soilless. What do I need to add to make it complete?

Are you using the BX or something other?

Promix general not BX

  • With MYCOACTIVE technology to stimulate vigorous growth for greater stress resistance, larger root system for increased nutrients, water uptake, bigger, healthier plants

  • Specially formulated for a wide range of plant species

  • Offers ideal water holding, nutrient retention, and aeration properties

  • Light and easy to handle compressed format

  • Canadian sphagnum peat moss

  • Peat humus

  • Perlite

  • Limestone

  • Mycorrhizae - PTB297 Technology

This is exactly what I used in my No Till bed. I treated it like HP Pro Mycorrhizae. No issues.
I’ve also used the HP Pro Vegetable mix without issues. To me HP is a base soil, just need to add your food for the microbes and if you want add some Airration Amendments which could be something like Lava Rocks, or Pumis, or perlite or worms ect.

I’m using pro-mix soil mix for vegetables and herbs and my plant is looking good, I’ve grown other stuff in it before so I kinda have an idea of how long it lasts.

Says 3 months on the bag.

In my garbage memory it said 2 months, but yeah it does last around 3 months.

I never paid attention to what the bag clames lol
I just used it as I Would if it was HP Pro Mycorrhizae.

Ohh, you used like it was coco with liquid fertilizer? Your plants didn’t burn? I might start amending sooner than I though…

No. I used it like regular non fertilized soil. No liquid nutes. Just dry Amendments.

@anon20530495 I started in promix hp, tried a few other types and brands and came back to promix hp cc, has added Coco coir and now run promix cc40 which completely cuts perlite for 40% total Coco coir, 60% peat moss and their little mix of stuff.

The reason I dig promix is specifically for it’s pH balancing that they do, the dolomite lime and peat moss both buffer your pH so when you water it automatically stays around 6 (if I remember correctly, think it says in the bag).

There ARE enough nutes for seedlings to make it 3-4 weeks into their growth, couple new nodes etc. But they run out relatively quick cause it’s not meant to be anything like FF or HF or roots organics or the like, just real basic and you amend it.

Which brings me to soil amendments I either add at the beginning or about a month in depending on if I kept the medium from the last batch of plants or not in a fake attempt at no till. I try and stay organic so I use down to Earth which is easily available and quickly shipped from Amazon, I use bone meal, bat guano, fish meal, Langbeinite for pH buffer mainly but also a bite I can’t remember, dolomite lime for pH buffer and cal-mag/sulfur if I remember right, their flower mix, and I think maybe one more I’m forgetting but point is you can pick the amendments that scientifically support cannabis nutrient uptake. I also use roots organics terp teas veg, bloom, and bloom boost accordingly for more micronutrients and bacteria. Coco A/B from cannanutrients and their PK 13/14. Still feed cal-mag occasionally, SLF100 every time, URB every time, and Hygrozyme occasionally

Seems like way overboard even to me but I can fert them willy nilly as I please cause the plants are always happy no matter what.

Forget a few weeks or a month of adding nutes? No problem, still fine. Doubled up cause you got too high and forgot the last time you did it? No problem, still fine

Hope this helps some, also keep us posted on what works for you so maybe I can cut back on some of all that craziness I typed out :joy:

I dont immediately feed, its way too much for seedlings but to each their own, good luck.
Aye, Vernie
There’s just enough for 2 weeks for seedlings just perfect.

I’ll for sure be updating what I put in, when, and what have you. Gotta say though, it looks like you’ve got your methodology down to a science. You know that old saying, “if it ain’t broken….”

Another thing I’ve been curious about is reusing it. If amending and feeding like yourself and @CADMAN and @OleReynard and @Pigeonman I see it making sense. You’d probably lose the wetting agent, but no biggie. In my case, using 100% salts as feed, I could see issues with doing multiple runs. However, that may be a faulty assumption on my part.

If you are referring to “reusing” the media for a second round: Yes.

My nutes are all raw salt based and I’ve found issues with my outdoors this year where I didn’t amend last years mix as a test. Same nutes, same schedule but all the goodness in the Promix was gone. I must add that I use BX rather than HP as a preference, but do add perlite when my gut tells me too. The plants using the old BX were not really taking off until I dosed them with Superthrive (a product I wish i knew about earlier than this year!!). A few nice days of weather and within’ 1 week they went off like rockets.

Now dosing them with Superthrive 1x a week which was rightfully suggested to me by @JohnnyPotseed who’s suggestions have yet to lead me astray!

My nutes are locally made and I swear by them, though I know I should think about other options considering there is only 1 supplier so if things get weird it’ll be a frustrating learning curve.

The BX is the same as HP with the exception of vermiculite?

Superthrive is great! I learned about it from some older guys on the original OG. It gets a bad rap from some folks due to the hormones it contains, but I used to add it sparingly to both hydro and soil. I’ve wrestled with using it this time in veg for a little extra N and may still go that route.

Lol now I’m wondering if @JohnnyPotseed was one of the old school brothers that put me onto it way back in the day!

I run pro mix both the black bales and the white . I like adding extra perlite allowing for more frequent watering . I also reuse mine once it’s had a chance for the roots to disintegrate roughly 2/3 grows down the road it gets reused .
