HLG-600H Quantum Board versus Timbergrowlights Model 4VL

I am aiming for 1200w or 1800w power, haven’t decided yet.

So would you rather get 2-3x HLG or 3-5 of the TLG, and why?

Kinda worried about the HLG that it will not penetrate canopy as much as TLG.

If you’re planing on dropping 3 grand on new leds look at Solstrip.com for a diy solution. You can save some cash that way and can invest more into lights or power supplies.

Thanks for your input, I am not much of a DIY guy

Between the two, I think the HLG are more efficient and will give a more even coverage. The COBs may have more penetration, but not as even coverage.

1200 watts of SolStrips would require a minimum of 24 strips.

Thanks for the reply, @ReikoX

The reason why I’m a bit partial to the COBs is that I have had great results with them in the past, and because I have to keep my plant count relatively low, I need to grow them big, and sure, training could be an option but I’d rather abstain from it as much as possible.

I wonder if @LED_Seedz would have anything to say about this subject?

Fluence first followed closely by Illumitex if you want the best.

Nothing I have tested comes close and I am never going to suggest a rebranded light or array that somebody else built.

I like the 525w Fluence Vyperx+ for $900. It’s $1.70 per watt, the Timber one is $1.40, the HLG is $1.20. I think the Fluence will grow more per watt because the spectrum and beam angle are designed for horticulture.

Also you only have to hang a 7 pound fixture which is unbelievably light for a 525w LED fixture. I have similar P.L. Light bar-style fixtures and they do a nice job covering a square area with no hot spots. All the pro/commercial LED’s use a blend of white and colored diodes.

personally i think a PCB or fluence would have better penetration than COB as there is more individual light sources = more angles for the light to get thru the cracks but idk

I have the Redwood VS, but i will be converting it into a Fatty VS, 9 Vero29v7 COBs running at 1100W. To run it in the 4x4x8 tent.

I will also have a 4VL for the 4x2x6 tent, and a 240 Watt Quantum Board Grow Light Kit for the 4x2x4, for clones and mothers or to veg…

wow 1100w in a 4x4 is a lot! i can’t imagine you’ll ever need it on full power, but you’ll get great efficiency underdriving it

i plan to run it at 700W only. The 400W in the medium tent will be running at 300W, and the quantum board will probably not pass 200W… I like having extra capacity, without having to use it. U know.

It extends items life by a lot.
