Holy's Garden (Part 1)

Chopped the Northern Cheese Haze and the Godberry today. Have to have to something to smoke
Plus I started seeing little balls growing on the the NCH, most of the hairs have turned and most of the trichomes are cloudy so figured its time. NCH was 70 days from sprout, mostly 24/0, last month or so was 20/4. That’s max breeder recommended time. I trimmed the few fan leaves she had and hung her whole so see if there’s a difference drying, plus I can’t find a stem on her

The Godberry was 56 days of 11/13 since flip. End of week 8/Start of week 9. She thankfully started having some amber trichomes but not much, ~5%. Maybe it won’t be quite as sleepy this time. Had to split her up into 10 or so branches and have her hanging, fan leaves and all. Here’s a couple pics from a couple days ago.

Maintaining ~65F/~60RH for everything.

Now that I have things drying, I can definitely let these other 3 finish up for another couple weeks.

Lets try the paper towel method, or in this case, coffee filter sandwich. Since they’re lint free, the roots shouldn’t get tangled in it. 8 year old beans here so we’ll see what happens. If any sprout then they’ll go to solo cups.

Start of Week 9

Purple MAC

Dont’t mind all the yellow, lot of light burn from earlier.
Check out these tops!

Russian Snow

Thinking another week or two to go. Nice having some smoke already drying, don’t have to worry about cutting these down until they’re absolutely ready.

Tried a bit of my 50 day tester of Godberry and that stuff smokes so good, definitely better/smoother/tastier with this grow in soil than the last DWC run. And this was just FF Happy Frog + maxibloom and epsom salts. Looking forward to the rest of it when it gets done drying here. Definitely foresee having to press a good portion of it as its got a lot of popcorn buds and larf but the tops are all dank. More soon!

36 hours later…

4x NL5HSS have popped, 3x have tails so those have been planted in soil solo cups. Just waiting on a tail to come out on the one and then for the last one to pop, can see a little nub like its starting so hopefully by tonight… :crossed_fingers:

Alright, 5 out 5 NL5HSS popped within 48 hours! Was worried a bit with them being from 2012… Got em all planted now in solos and in the auto tent with the FSxCDLC that’s finishing up.

Now to see if they come up, next week or two are always the most dangerous but I have faith in the soil and the genetics.

Speaking of genetics, I wonder on the exact lineage on these…
They were listed as:
(Northern Lights #5 x Haze) x Sensi Star
Which made me think, okay classic Neville NL5xHaze right? But the vial they came in says:
Haze x NL5 x Sensi Star
And being it’s from Mel Frank(and maybe Todd had a hand in it too), it makes me wonder if he had an old school nl5 he kept and he crossed it himself to OHaze(or some variant) and then used that to cross with the Sensi Star in 2012 to get these beans. Meaning it would be his own version of nl5xhaze and not the standard cut from back in the day that he also would have had access to back then

Idk, but regardless it should be good stuff. I don’t think I want to do straight open pollination on these if I do get a pair as I’d like at least some pristine herb to smoke  but definitely gonna try and pollinate most of it. See what happens. If I get 5 males I guess I’ll just have a ton of pollen to share ^^

Here’s the Godberry Day-50 Tester getting ready for the grinder

Now to wait for the rest of it to dry

Looks yummy. Well done. The waiting game starts.

Welp, 4 out 5 made it to seedling stage.

#3 looks like it choked on its own seed casing(the clear plastic-feeling membrane that covers the seed/cotyledons) and died off. The top right one is actually #5 and is the runt so far. Slowest to hatch(48hrs) and slowest to grow so far. Don’t mind the tray, misplaced my saucer’s so needed something to catch any runoff

I decided to start soaking a Franco’s Lemon Cheese Fem seed from Greenhouse to replace the NL5HSS #3 seed that died off. Figure worst case I’ll have some extra herb. Best case I get a male from one of these 4 NL5HSS’s that are left and I can spread some pollen to the FLC while I attempt to make F2’s. I want that Northern Cheese Haze in a photoperiod! If it has to be kinda lemony, I’m fine with that

Hi how’s the smoke on the Franco,s Lemon

Hi there HA the Godberry who’s is it ? Sorry if you already said I don’t recall

I had thought about running something else instead of the Franco’s Lemon Cheese. That was actually my last choice but I think it’s the best way to go for now. Super Lemon Haze x Exodus Cheese (Franco’s Cut), if I can get seeds from crossing it with the NL5HSS then the Franco’s should bring back some of the haze high that Todd mentioned was lacking in these, and maybe can get a nice cheese expression too.

These are my current in-stock NL/NCH related options for breeding with these NL5HSS:
The Doors (NL5HxHazeAC) - Reg - 5 Seeds
NL2 x NL5 - Reg - 6 Seeds
Afghani/Blue Lights - Reg - 10 Seeds
Exodus Cheese - Fem - 5 Seeds
Franco’s Lemon Cheese - Fem - 5 Seeds

End goal being that Photoperiod Northern Cheese Haze. I want a sub 5ft tall, cheese reeking, NL5Haze bud producing high of a plant that hopefully finishes inside of 75 days. Beggars can’t be choosers and all though so who knows. I know my chances are small but gotta start somewhere right?

I probably won’t come back to whatever comes from this until late next year or sometime in 2022 or so. The next runs after this are locked to running Goji OG F3’s and/or F2’s. And I also want to hunt through these Sunshine Daydream F2’s too.

I haven’t ever tried it before honestly. I had their Exodus Cheese some years back and that was pretty dank, musky cheese taste and smell but in a good way, mouthwatering. That’s why I had to pick it up

Godberry was from Freedom Of Seeds. I definitely like that stuff. It’s great evening smoke, and the dry sift/hash from the trim is perfect night-time sleep aid. I’m not sure about pain relief though, it does help but it also tends to make me more aware of it. Gassy/Hashy Lemon Berry is what I got out of this last one in soil. May come back to it again later to find a faster growing pheno

Speaking of, here’s the very top bud of the NCH I picked last week.

Still got the rest hanging up. Hoping another week to go before it’s ready for jars. She has a piney up front, cheesy in the back smell and taste. Guessing this one leaned more towards the NL than the Cheese but still kind of a nice 50/50. My buddy’s last one was pure musky cheese just like that Exodus cut. High is upbeat but relaxing. I gave my buddy the twin of this plant and it’s still going for him, bout 3 times the size of mine too. Just shows the difference between auto-n00b with dwc and auto-coco-master

Took one branch of the Russian Snow a couple days ago(Friday). Rest aren’t ready yet. We’re starting Week 10 today, day 63 of flower and so far zero amber’s on the Purple MAC, there’s a couple here or there on the Russian Snow but not everywhere. Maybe 5% at most on a top cola only. Will get more pics of those tonight or tomorrow.

Start of Week 10 of Flower - Day 64

Not much new here, just waiting on these two to finish up. Thinking maybe this weekend? Idk, not trying to rush it… On to the pics!

3x3x6 Tent

Russian Snow = left side | Purple MAC = right side
That middle area, between the plants that have the abundance of fried yellow in there towards the bottom, that’s where my tower fan sits, on top of that paint can you see the top of, and oscillates so I’m pretty sure that’s pure wind burn and nothing else. They’re both getting maxibloom+dry koolbloom at around 400ppm currently. PH swings down like crazy due to the massive root volume to water with low nutrients, so I have to adjust it daily but no issues otherwise.

Starting to get a fade on the Russian Snow. Not so much with the Purple MAC yet. The RS is a little closer to being done too so maybe that’s it. Here’s some cola shots of the Russian Snow. The temp doesn’t get below 71 so this purple bud is all natural

She’s so pretty! Sweet, wet wood/incensy type smell coming off her, can’t really place it yet but its definitely nice, smells dank. She’s got golfball sized nugs everywhere and the buds below the cola’s are absolutely covered in frost. Double the frost of what the cola’s have. Really happy with this plant and these genetics from Vision Seeds. Fairly easy going the whole way, smells good, stacks good, looks great, frosty, no crazy stretch. Bit leafy but not near as bad as the Godberry is. Nice bushy branches-on-branches structure that could be a pain depending, wouldn’t recommend for SoG but would definitely work great with a scrog and some better undergrowth management.

And a couple of the same cola on the Purple MAC, she’s so foxtaily there isn’t really any good shots to get of this one. They prety much look the same as the previous pics.

Her smell is starting to sweeten up so maybe it’ll be decent. I’m sure she’s gonna be potent, just overall pretty disappointed with this plant. Part is my own fault, I could’ve done a better job with her, but I’m just not a fan of these genetics. Idk if it’s the Purple Punch or the MAC that I don’t like, but I don’t like it  She’s finicky on nutes, not the prettiest by any means in veg or flower, foxtails with ease, doesn’t stack very well(unless you like foxtails), lot of half-golfball sized nugs everywhere. Crazy 3x+ stretch. She does have big fat caylx’s though, and a nice open structure so that’s nice. Maybe @Hugh_Glass will get some better pheno’s out of this pack than I did  I think this particular pheno wants to go to 70-75 days. Again, not a speck of amber anywhere on her yet.

Upon further thought, I think I’d be more happy with the Purple MAC if I had grown her by itself like I did the Godberry the first time. This PMAC did have fairly vigorous growth the whole way. If height isn’t an issue she can obviously get big, I topped this one. And if given a wider area or just some better LST/Defoliation, and better nutrient control like super soil, she’d probably produce a lot of big fat stinky buds.
Can’t go wrong with that.

I just need to change my game. And maybe get a bigger tent.

That’s beautiful plant wow . Did you take clones of her?
Clone to flower is allot easier imo.
Green point really has some nice stuff .

I did not take any clones. I thought about it every time I’ve taken a branch off though. Really kinda wish I did on the Russian Snow after seeing how it’s turned out… But I have too many other strains to try to hold onto these with a 5 plant limit. I still have a couple seeds left of the Russian Snow to try.

You can always send one rooted or unrooted this way if you ever need some one to hold onto something for you. I would take cuts as I wanted but it would be their if you truly fell in love with something and its allot easier imo starting from clone. No thrill but easier.
We have a 0 plant count in my state. 1, 7, 50 im fucked either way. What state give their patients medical but still makes it so they have to go meet dealers to get cannabis still .

Oh damn, that’s rough. WTF over… Hopefully they open that up soon.

Here even without a medical card, 5 plants or less is a civil fine(and they take your plants), but 6 plants or more = mandatory 1-3yr prison time with a felony, so trying to avoid risking that :cry:
