Holy's Garden (Part 1)

Yeah, but now that I’m seeing your mineral mix, I kind of like the idea of adding a cup or two of oyster to the mineral mix. Maybe like six cups basalt and two cups oyster for every fifteen gallons of base, rather than the 8 cups of basalt and nothing else. Something happens to my plants every grow around day 40 or so and I think it might be a lack of calcium carbonate.

I like how the blood meal scares away the chipmunks! :upside_down_face:

In the video @ReikoX posted coot said use limestone because it’s cheaper than oyster/crab meals and has been used forever. I always added 1/3 vermicompost and 2/3 cow manure, and some chicken manure. I also never could find or afford the rock dust. Ive switched to coco now due to space requirements and moving a lot. It’s a hassle to move a worm bin!

Ah very good to know! I haven’t tried to source the Rock Dust or Basalt yet. I know I can get gypsum pretty cheap and easily at least…

But yeah, coco really has my interest at the moment, and then this glorious flood table. Literally, all I need is a single bottle of Calimagic, and a bag of Maxibloom, and I am done. Talking like $50 to do 4+ runs… Just gotta mix up the water when you need it but… that’s really hard to beat. The organic soil route has me spending $200-$300 up front just to get started.

I read a lot of GC organic threads and the point was to do it cheap. I bought the neem and karanja then just started using the DTE tomato box and Dr Earth bloom girl into flowering. I think I spent that much to fill two large raised beds when I grew outdoors a year ago. I also used fish hydroslate from boogie brew in flower also.

I do like the coco and masterblend $50 and your running for a while even not reusing the coco.

Great looking plants also man. Even though she’s stretching a long time she may fill in all the way giving you more bud!

looks good …I’m a fan of alfalfa meal…but oatmeal is cheap. I like making teas. Reiko and minitiger are steering you the right way on the ingredients and IMO you cannot over emphasize the importance of good worm castings

I don’t favor blood or bone meal either. Oyster shell or maybe crab shell. I favor the latter for chitin.

ooh looks like you can get 4lbs for ~$18 off amazon, unsure of the quality tho…

was not basalt dust available on Amazon …if so it is recent. Reputable vendor?

I linked it on that previous post, just click on the green ‘amazon’. Looks like it’s from Walt’s Organic Fertilizer Co… they got the glacial and all kinds of stuff on there now.

Yeah, the last time I bought rock dust, I got it from some place in Portland. A fifty pound bag was only 20 bucks. Shipping was $60 :joy: Still, I’m such a fucking stickler, I wanted basalt, so I got basalt. Having said that, once it’s in the soil, it’s in the soil. It’s not something you have to be re-amending every other grow or anything.

Again, these are all pretty similar. Don’t mind the water spots, they’re from the flood table. I’m loving the deeply serrated leaves. These are ranging from 17 inches at the shortest, to 21 inches at the tallest. The big one in the table is at 42" inches right now. Smells are just starting to come in but I’m not getting much yet. I think one of these has a raunchy dirty feet smell  but we’ll see here in another couple weeks :face_with_monocle:

Are you considering maybe moving those Purple NL2’s up on to something? Some five gallon buckets or whatever, just to get them closer to the light?

When I was watering last night, I caught a big whiff of grape candy and, like, dark chocolate and incense or something from my one PNL2. Smelled unreal. Hopefully that doesn’t change. I’m not the best at identifying smells, but the grape candy was very noticeable.

They’re beautiful!!! What size of pot are these? Thanks.

Thanks! These are the pots I got, 6 inchers but they taper down to 5 inches or so at the base.

@minitiger I have, they are raised a little bit but I don’t have much to raise them any further stably so they’re likely just stuck where they are for the duration. Should be fine though. Lights are at 440w at the wall in here, I need more boards really to go any higher really. At 600w the 4 qb288’s are melting plants, I can’t raise it any higher without stressing them all out.
