Hybrid Training Technique

On my 5th ever grow, I was trying to mainline/manifold some Northern Lights for the first time…
But after getting the manifold set up, and once the 8 colas started stretching up, I realized that I didn’t have clue what to do next…
So naturally, instead of turning on my computer and reviewing the directions, I decided intuitively (i.e. scoobed) that it would be a good time to splay them out supercrop-style and create a poor man’s netless Scrog…
Anynody want to chime in here? Please do…

That will work out nicely…one thing i would recommend is remove small bud sites below the visible formed ones you have now. That way the plants will focus all its energy on making the exisiting buds bigger and thicker…i have 2 auto N.L i used LST on one has 32 colas the other plant has 20…What you did looks like it will produce nicely.i will follow along.

Be mindful of how many colas your going to be developing. The plant can only produce so much yield based on plant size. So more colas mean each one will be smaller.

A scrog without a net is a good way to describe it.

It’s how I do it too.

All the best

Yeah this is basically what I did on a Godberry and she yielded pretty good that way for an extra couple weeks of veg.

Yours is looking nice

@Seamonkey84 neither of my plants seemed to suffer for the amount of colas produced and they still have a couple of weeks to go.With these 2 plants under 200w of burple lights i look to get at least 2w/g or more of nice stinky fat buds.

Maybe I’m still stuck in the past lol.

Cool… thanks for the review.
BTW, these are almost 4 weeks post-flip.

I’m using a measured approach to pruning - no schwazzing.

I pinch unwanted growth daily; seems to produce no obvious stress signs.

Although I did have to battle a Cal-Mag issue.but I got it under control within a week.

Any thoughts on whether to follow the maker’s recommended concentrations of nutrients for someone using coco, R/O’d water, and Remo?

Its strange to watch the hairs dessicate… its almost looks like the sugar leaves are growing, by default… or maybe they are?

It’s the kind of stress that comes with sound rewards.
