Has anyone had luck with hydroponic systems? Do you put it on a timer to not overwater? New at this Have tents set up.
I think just about all hydroponics setups are on timer. What you are looking for is something like this:
I prefer the analog industrial units, looks like they jacked up the price recently.

Drip or flood and drain or what? What kind of medium are you growing in?
i love my digital cycle timer for sprayers.
There are a variety of hydroponic system types to choose from, do you know which type you’re looking at?
- DWC is more passive and only needs an air pump but requires more physical effort with water changes
- RDWC can use an air stone and a water pump
needs at least a timer of some kind and a water pump (if I’m recalling correctly)(I was not recalling correctly) - Flood and Drain needs a timer of some kind and a water pump at minimum
Those are some of the main ones used for cannabis. There are grow logs of folks using any of those kicking around OG, maybe take a look and see what feels appealing? Many hydroponic grows in these parts.
I have a flood & drain setup and have the pump controlled by my AC Infinity controller on a plug that integrates into the system.
Thats pretty cool
All good choices…
Have a look at Octopots, they have a ‘following’ here as well. (assuming you are in the US)

Chiming in just to illustrate how many ways you can skin a cat. We run RDWC air pump and water pump are both 24/7. The only time the water pump is off is about 30 minutes per week during reservoir change-outs.
That said, on initial investment otherwise, RDWC is probably closest to the top, even if you DIY the whole project.
Lots of factors to which method might work best for you, and a thousand-thousand ways to deviate within each and make it work for you. Bottom line, to answer the most pertinent question:
We just pulled more than 2 pounds off of four plants on our fifth run in hydro. Hydro f#@%!&g rules.
Also- Damn glad to meet you, @Pugglemom . Hope you find your way around the forum well. Make sure to stop in at the introduction thread! Here you go!
