I went in for the same deal. No regrets so far.
@budleydoright I went and bought one as soon as you posted it!!! Just couldn’t see spending the money on an Eco and making a shitload of small batches to accommodate what I needed to make.
Thanks for posting it!!!
Thanks bro! I was on it like Larry Flint! I wrote to them asking what size the $99 blemished units are (They very carefully do NOT say on the webpage!). They wrote back but not with the answer to what I asked! But they said their shipping department is on holiday until next week anyway. I’ve written back and hope they reply. They said they are willing to ship to Thailand…just a matter of cost now! But with that savings it’ll be worth it! Thanks again to Bob @BudBusterPro andd everybody else that’s chimed in to help make sure all OGers know about it!
@Tlander I think the $99 units are the smaller one. The $189 blemished is what you’d want if they still have any available.
You want the Nature-Chlor MAX
I just looked and the $99 is the small unit.
They still have the MAX listed as available in a blemished unit.
@Tlander
I just went back thru the website and investigated.
The $99 NatureChlor will do 1 gallon batches
The $189 NatureChlor MAX will do 5 gallon batches.
@budleydoright is the OGer who turned me on to it, when he posted he got the MAX blemished unit and it would do 5 gallon batches, I couldn’t resist and ordered it immediately.
555! You guys got me going bro! I wanted the 1 gallon, but was afraid it was the 1 liter one for $99…but 5 gallons at $189 and I could REALLY go to town with the backpack fogger! Of course shipping is probably substantially more for the bigger model too!
@Kgrim great hook up. Just purchased the max blemish too. Making 5 gallon at a time, hell yes!
It was me, it was me! I demand notoriety for putting y’all on to the units/sales!
(Edit: I should note that I’m saying this tongue in cheek; humorously).
I’m glad so many of you got in on that deal though. Don’t forget, I think egretlab.ca has some other HOCl devices on sale as well, one has a built in sprayer.
It looks like more and more people might be interested in HOCl, which is cool. Too bad so few in canada that egretlab.ca is closing their store down at years end. Fuckin’ sad.
Carry on.
Edit: I had a “method” that I was making 4.5L of 500ppm down really well that I could share, but I wonder if it would translate that well given peoples different source water, and even salt type, etc.? Going forward I think I’ll be making 200-250ppm - at least for garden purposes.
I had thought I’d just make 500ppm and then dilute it by 50%, but then the pH would surely be off, and it’s probably not the best way to do it. Just a thought.
Thanks for the props, but I’m not the one deserving it. @Nitt deserves the props, he’s the one that posted it, I jumped on it as soon as I learned that the MAX model makes 5 gallons.
So please give props to the OGer who’s due, @Nitt
Great find @Nitt .
I almost bought a second, especially at that price. But I can’t justify it when I need other things. So, I hope these last long.
Enjoy your HOCl making people, haha.
I TRULY appreciate you posting this generator.
@Nitt I couldn’t justify spending damn near the same money to make quarts at a time when I need to make gallons.
And a “blemished” unit for more than half off is pretty damn good!!!
I got one of these and have used it A LOT with no issues.
30 minute fog session 60 minutes before the lights come on. This machine produces 5 micron dry fog that almost immediately evaporates into the air. This machine atomizes 4.8 liters an hour.
Does anyone know if you can use sodium dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) tablets to make hypochlorous acid for use in hydroponic reservoirs?
I came across them when shopping for hypochlorous acid. It was a product called “sani-powder hypochlorous acid tablets”. So I looked into the ingredient. Apparently they are NaDCC tablets, which turn into hypochlorous acid when dissolved in water. They are sold as disinfectant tablets and also water treatment tablets.
I read it’s also used as a disinfectant for plant tissue cultures, which made me think that it may be safe for plants?
It would be a convenient way to make hocl if it’s safe to use on plants, since it has a much longer storage life. Just drop a tablet in water when you need more hocl.
What makes me hesitant is that I read that NaDCC tablets make hypochlorous acid and sodium cyanurate when put in water (not 100% that’s accurate though). I’m not sure exactly what sodium cyanurate is.
Teddy, not exactly hypochlorous acid…it is a disinfectant true enough, and may often be used by hikers and military personnel as a water purification tablet in the wilds. It does release a low level of chlorine from the formulation.
Hypochlorous acid is a very simple and small molecule. It always contains one atom each of Hydrogen, Oxygen and Chlorine.
Amazon offers a couple brands of 0.050% (500ppm) hypochlorous acid at about $25/Gal that may be a better bet for you in plant specific applications!
Bob
Thanks! Yeah I actually already ordered a gallon of the BrioTech 500ppm pure hypochlorous acid. I assume this is safe to use on plants?
I was just intrigued by the tablets since they have a 5 year shelf life and you can use them to mix up smaller amounts of hocl at a time (16-32 oz’s). I know I’m not going to use a whole gallon in the 6 month shelf life. But for the price it’s still worth it. It was on sale for $18.99/gallon. Way cheaper than buying the hydroponic branded products (I was using WaterMax).
I had always used Dutch Masters Zone but it’s not available anymore, so I switched to hocl and so far I’m very happy with the results.
Just ended reading topic.
Thanks @BudBusterPro for sharing , I appreciate it.
Good luck @Turpman , Waiting for results with keen interest
Have PM issue , plants already flowering. Can’t find here solution and equipment , so maybe will try diy too…
