And nothing with OTO no chlorine.
I thought I’d be able to make something haha.
Cleaned everything giving it another go with HCL
@Turpman How violently did it fizz?
Lots of bubbles. Have the amp set at 1 amp. Took it up to 30v Still nothing.
Maybe I have the wrong strips?
Pick with the stir plate shut off. Maybe the lack of a membrane is the issue.
When I generate H0Cl with my Eco One generator the solution comes out absolutely clear but yours looks like ice tea
maybe the anonde kathode matiral?
`as membran you could use a clay pot .
Ya I tried carbon fibre out of a hockey stick but it didn’t conduct. So just 2 iron rods. Must be iron oxide in the water.
you can try lead as far as i know, graphit would work but the solution will be a mess
Ph pen crashed today. Maybe that was the issue.
I’ll maybe get a couple chunks of ti. Give that a go one day.
Dam blue lab. First one lasted like 5 years. Hav had this one for 2 months. Just noticed a bit of condensation on the inside. Aired it out today now no cal.
You can harvest carbon rods out of 6v lantern batteries. There are videos on youtube.
Guys, we’re really getting out in the weeds here!
No offense intended to anyone…I appreciate the input, but you’re never going to formulate hypochlorous acid unless you utilize the correct ratios and components:
Per liter of acid:
1 Liter R/O water
2 GRAMS Kosher salt OR Potassium Chloride (KCl)
1 teaspoon WHITE vinegar (to start with)
If you use any ‘colored vinegar’ you’ve already screwed up !
There’s only ONE TEST strip that has proven accurate.
You will note the strips only read up to 300ppm…So if you are making stronger acid and want accurate readings, there’s a simple procedure…Take a small vial and add 5ml of your produced acid and 5ml R/O or distilled water. Stir it up and put on your test strip…get your reading and multiply by 2.
If it still maxes out the 300ppm take 5ml of your acid and add 10ml R/O or distilled water…put on your test strip and multiply your reading by 3…easy peezy
HOPE that helps
How to say you’re Canadian without actually saying you’re Canadian!
Can I ask is this the same stuff for skin ? Like you can buy from shoppers ?
Haa! Haa! Haa! We have a Winner, on ALL counts!
I mean it kills germs, if you mean as a hand sanitizer. But I don’t think I’d put it on my skin all the time or anything.
When something catches my eye and I now that knowledge will be useful I try to research it as much as possible. Thank you very much for your answer . And if you can see some of my other post I just went threw it with the same kind of problem . And I guess I should have read a little futher about what it was but I had it on my tomatoes and a couple other plants it just showed up one day ! Imagine that !
Hey Pete !
HOCl is the best disinfectant there is !
Remember, it is ‘surface active’ and doesn’t soak into your skin.
I have a cat that suffers from Pillow Paw so I dunk his feet twice a day!
Perfect in this application, because it’s completely harmless if he licks his feet…
FWIW
Thanks for the enlightenment Bob! I knew it was a great disinfectant…I just didn’t think you should be applying it to your skin more than necessary. I pretty much bathe in it when I spray my outdoor plants though.
LOL,
I don’t think you want to use it more than necessary, but it’s pretty much replaced hydrogen peroxide and isopropyl alcohol in my household.
Interesting that if you ever have to suffer a root canal…when the dentist removes all the root debris,
the last thing he does is flood the wound with hypochlorous acid.
On animals, it’s really nice because unlike antibiotic or chemical disinfectants, it dries quickly and has no residual so if they lick it, it has no detrimental effect !
