I have a question concerning our U.S. national parks

And here I was thinking this would be a thread about growing weed in national parks…

There’s no federal requirement that businesses except cash for services offered… but there are state laws (in a number of states) that do require businesses to accept cash.

I don’t know if this is true but the explanation I’ve heard in the past, about the legal tender part, is that it refers to “debts” (and applies only to them), and services offered aren’t considered a debt, because you have to pay the fee for them to perform the service. Like I said, I’m not sure whether that’s the correct explanation as to why there isn’t a federal requirement despite the words being printed right on the bills.

According to Section 31 U.S.C. 5103 entitled “Legal Tender,” “United States coins and currency [including Federal Reserve notes and circulating notes of Federal Reserve Banks and national banks] are legal tender for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues.”

You may proclaim but USC tops you.

You might want to read the first sentence of the page you linked to… the thing with statutes is that words included in them often have quite specific definitions. Everything you quoted is true, about debts.

From out of a Monty Python episode," I’m sorry I don’t argue free"

Still waiting for the day when they start paying people to argue on the internet. Think of all the legal precedent we can set here!

I hope someone’s going to advise the people currently suing the park service to file a motion for summary judgment, because OG has spoken.

You are a smart guy, you probably know this… for political reasons it is already being done.
ICmag is a great example of this.
Folks there with no ties to weed but are there everyday to make political comments.
Check out moose eater and GRY.
Moose eater had to abandon his original account when he was confronted and when I talked with GRY on the phone he was using a voice changing software and probably on a burner phone.

It is all about awareness, just look you would have never know there was such a thing as a paid internet troll if it was not for this conversation. :slightly_smiling_face:

Weird.

I liked ICM okay way back when, but when I went back a few years ago it seemed pretty weird… and boring. “They” might have to pay me to hang out there!

Gonna go wait by the phone.

Does anyone know why the UN is involved with our National parks?

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated the CBR because of the area’s unique combination of natural resources and cultural heritage.

UNESCO is a good thing.

My thoughts are…
The federal govt. already has preserved the land why does the UN need to preserve it again.

Why does the UN have anything to do with lands preserved for the people of the USA?

I just like the fact they designate areas (worldwide) that are important to preserve.

are you trolling? that link you posted said unesco, not the un.

DID YOU KNOW…
 UNESCO stands for United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization
 The U.S. was a principal architect and the first signatory of
the 1972 UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection
of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage

yeah, that’s still not the un. it stemmed from the un but is a separate organization. for example, they don’t send troops anywhere, they make mandates that everyone is free to ignore.

Looks like I need to buy somemore Amcor stock today…

UNESCO is an agency of the United Nations. There is more to the UN than peacekeeping blue helmets.

https://www.unesco.org/en/history

Who is the largest contributor to the UNESCO budget?

UNESCO has a budget of 1.5 billion US dollars for the years 2022 and 2023. Germany is currently the third largest contributor to UNESCO after Japan and China.

that’s another link telling me the same thing that the first link did, much the same as the link i found that determined that unesco is not the un. thanx for the additional info but it’s starting to get repetitive. unesco called a us national park a biosphere region for conservation purposes. bug flipping deal. now you guys are pissed that someone outside the us is trying to help us? wow. you act like they’re sending troops.

just a quick question to anyone concerned: how many of these things have they done? or more clearly, how many times has unesco issued a designation like this? i did a little research on this before my first post so i’ll wait. i’ll also give a hint: this ain’t the first one.
