I know what you did last summer!

So I, like some others here, am going on a summer vacation.

I thought it would be fun to share the cool places we all go in the summer or any other time really.

I have some cool places in michigan to showcase from past vacations.
I will post my pics when I return in a couple of months.

I hope you all will join in and show off your secret vacation spots.
More coming from me soon.

Please post up your pics and stories if you have em.
Thanks

I kinda stole the idea from @DougDawson :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Little Presque Isle - State of Michigan
Drone footage

The Little Presque Isle tract is often called the crown jewel of Lake Superior, with its beautiful sand beaches, rugged shoreline cliffs, heavily timbered forests, and unmatched public views.

The proposed natural area occurs north and south of Little Presque Point, around the mouth of Harlow Creek.

The area is a combination of a wooded dune and swale community and bedrock lakeshore and cliff.

The wooded dunes and swales formed as post-glacial lake levels receded, depositing a series of low sandy beach ridges.

Since then, the ridges have become forested with hemlock, red pine, white pine, cedar, and balsam fir, while the wet swales that developed between them are now either forested or open wetlands.

Harlow Lake

Harlow Lake is located in Marquette County, Michigan. This lake is 75 acres in size. When fishing, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Rock Bass, Yellow Perch.

Here is another tidbit about ** Little Presque Isle - State of Michigan**
You can walk through the water to get there.

You can walk through the water to get there, in the previous post you can see the water is kinda shallow in the video.
From this picture, it looks a bit daunting, but they say they drag coolers and BBQ’s out there for college parties.
The water is pretty cold and I was told by a local girl, the females tend to like to wear a wet suit.

Us men, we can handle 30-40 degree water no problem, with the right amount of beer… :sunglasses:

Are you brave enough to make it across?

Some of you folks living the real life island life just have to have some awesome spots to share.
Or maybe they are soo good they need to be kept a secret… :sunglasses:

What about you @MoBilly
I love to take vacations in your back yard. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Do you have any spots you wanna share.

I heard the elk river goes into the mountain and underground.
Have you seen that?

More on that….
Upper Elk is a geological marvel: A subterranean network of caves, streams, and waterfalls, including a six-mile stretch in Randolph County where, in dry weather, the river sinks underground. According to legend, underground Elk was formed in 1896 when a hole opened in the stream bed and simply swallowed the river. Spelunkers frequently explore this dark side of Elk, but do so at their own risk because the headwaters are prone to sudden rises from storms that can fill the caverns.

I hang out near the Blue hole if you have heard of that?

This is from a boat trip we took down the Pictured Rocks Lakeshore.
These rocks will soon be falling into the water.
There are videos out where the rocks fall and just miss some kayakers.
We did not get too close.
You may want to turn the sound down, it was windy that day.

Some weird honeycomb caves near the waterline.
And yes that is the real color of the water.
I have lived here my whole life and Michigan still amazes me from time to time.
This was one of those times. :exploding_head:

There is a spot. It’s actually a stone throw from my yard. But when you’re on poverty ridge, a stone can go a long way. I’d go take a pic but the road washed out so bad the tractor wouldn’t even have a chance. lol.
It’s been my spot for a long time. I’ll try to get down there for some pictures as soon as I can.
I like the idea of this thread but I wouldn’t be able to show any “vacation” pics. I have only had one since the late 80’s when I moved back onto the home place.

I do know that area you live in is very very beautiful.
I live in Detroit, so you see poverty ridge is a vacation every day for you.
Most if not all of my vacations are spent in the woods.
There are big lakes everywhere, so water is usually a part of it too.

I would love to see your secret spots. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Not those spots hillbilly, pull your pants back up  :joy: …LOL

I will post some pics of my time in WV, when I can find em…LOL

Thanks for stopping in @MoBilly
See ya soon!

I have a 14 year old Grandnephew that has two good legs. lol
I’ll ask him to take a walk with me down to my spot for some pictures. That way he can get help for me if needed. I’ve been wanting to get down there for a while anyway.
Pictures will be coming soon. :+1:

Birch River Strange Creek West Virginia USA

It looks green at the moment, but they call this the Blue Hole.
Supposed to be deep.
There is a tree swing across the river to swing into the water.

You might run into one of these in Mobilly’s backyard too.

Near strange creek, the actual creek

Keeners ridge

A place they call honeycomb rock.

Don’t stop to smoke under that rock, we almost did…WTF?

Try to canoe through that shit… :exploding_head:

Here you can see how fast the water drops, note the 2 - 6 foot tall men standing on the beach in the background, middle right in the dark spot.

looking back at what we came through.

It rained and the river got full fast.

We almost could not make it back across the river.

And this here is an authentic West Virginia hillbilly.
Can you tell, we are not even out hunting… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
