James' Money-Pit Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Octopot!

68 is fine for the temperature anything under 70 here good yeah if you don’t have much bud in there you’ve got to keep the sponge in there the sponge should always be in there except for the very first day when you load it other than that you want to keep the sponge in there and keep it wet

Cannatrol has reached 68F and 53.5DP - That gives 58% RH.
Its amazing how “Off” hygrometers are. The two on the right are non-adjustable

The long meter on the left is adjustable, but not cheap. I have 3 of them, and they allow ±6, but one doesnt have enough range to corrrectly calibrate. The small meter on the left is the Amazon cheapie. That particular one is dead on for RH. ONE out of a set of 12, I think.

Good morning ladies!

Meter calibration with 62% Boveda pack in sealed bag.

I use wet microfiber towel for AC Infiniti and wired type sensor calibration.

what are you basing the 58% on with the Cannatrol machine says or your meters

on my machine the GUAGE on Cannatrol is off about four or 5%

I have about 50 of those small meters and a dozen nicer bigger ones I just laid them on the table and picked two or three that were reading the same and agreeing with the more expensive meters I put two or three of them in the Cannatrol

They would all read the same the Canitrot unit would be 3 to 5 marks off

I am basing my findings based upon what my meters read not the Cannes troll machine

Right now, with what the Cannatrol says. Here’s up to the second shots of both Unit and Hygrometers
Right now the Cannatrol is reading 53.2 DP and 57% RH

The cheapo sensor reads 62%.The LT side white meter is Reading 57% and it is +5 calibrated, so its at 62% RH.

So yours is off exactly like mine is we should be able to run the same settings if I environment is close I keep my house around 70 to 74 and the humidity stays about 50 to 60

Im Guessing so. Is it just the parts he uses that have terrible tolerances? David is happy with his spensive box off calibration that far? I wouldnt be if it was my baby and my name on it. Last words on that.

My house humidity is just a tad lower overall, but I still think we’re pretty good.
Its been thermostat wars here for years. I always kept the house at 68F, fuck the bill. Wifey always changing it higher. Seems in the past couple years as Ive started smoking/vaping weed and crept into mid-50s, my internal thermostat is running cooler. Keeping house just a bit warmer now.

Im still “that guy” wearing shorts and T-shirt skiing down a slope, lol. Although I sometimes wear a jacket nowadays.

Been out all day with Stan and Gie… stopping off for some Dutch Bros. Stan is already excited, he knows he’s getting that pup cup!

Getting Dutch Bros with my best bud, listening to Frampton Comes Alive and wife passed out exhausted in the back seat…10 minutes of bliss. :beers: :vulcan_salute: :beers: :vulcan_salute:

Here’s Sunday morning! Removing the humidifier and bringing the girls a little closer together. Did a little Foop foliar spray just because…

The hygrometers and I are getting together for a calibration.
Put in bag with Boveda 62% pack yesterday. Only 3 in this batch make the cut. Caliber IV adjustable ±6. Even the one that wouldnt quite get in line months ago is within calibration range. You can see they are all reading 62%. I’ll see how they are tonight after work.
Great thing about the Caliber IV is the adjustability ±6. Has a magnet on back too, which is cool. Unfortunately they always hang lopsided from tent poles.
Bad thing about them is the terrible readablity. Looks great in the photo, but off-axis and sub-par lighting make the display disappear.
Trying to read with cameras suck unless the hygrometer is angled directly at the camera. The cheapo amazon meters dont have the readability issue.
Another positive is being able to adjust them while they are in the plastic bags and not have to open up and fuck up the environment like when I used tupperware* container.
Always a set of compromises…

*No actual Tupperware brand storage containers were used. Cheap Costco knock-offs.  :joy:

I think the cheaper, older style humidity sensors take several days to reach final accuracy. I’d leave them for a few days and see what happens.

Also, I’d double-bag your setup. I’ve noticed ziplock is watertight but certainly not vapor-tight. I remember frequently terrible outcomes keeping cigars more than a few days in ziplocks. I’ve been skeptical since.

The cheapos have been in there for days. They are lefovers from a batch last week. Its funny you mention that. I have some that zip to RH almost instantly, and some that just crawl. The Caliber IVs are definitely on the slower side. The cheapos are all over the place, lol.

Had to get the humidifier back in there. Too much heat and low RH was no-bueno.

Going to mix up some nutes this evening to feed either tonight or tomorrow. Doing full-strength this time. I really feel they want that.

Hey guys!

So Ive only topped both Skywalker OG and Blue Dream just the one time.

Im wondering if I should top again at 3 sites on BD and 4 sites on OG, or just let things fly til the flip to flower? Its been just over a week since the mainstem topping on each.

Are your leaf tips yellow / burnt or clawing down ?

They were clawing big-time yesterday after removing the Humidifier and leaving bowl of water, lol.
Tried to exhaust heat at 80F, but drove out all the moisture.

Tips all seem to look good for the most part, but Im thinking a bit of heat stress and really wanting nutrients at higher level.
Ive noticed my water ph is all over the place. Keeps going low. Ive adjusted a couple of times. Several days ago I checked and ph was in the 4’s. Was at 6-6.3 when watered with nutes.

Hopefully they drink decently today and I will add 2.5 gallons full-strength to each reservoir.

Just got home from work to check out the plants. Blue Dream especially has tips turned down and light yellow, Skywalker is following suit.

I don’t think lights are the problem, as I’ve had the same setting for several days. Thinking need to up the nutes. Water and nuts have been in there for a while. And fat, going to check ppms right now

So I mixed 5 gallons of 0ppm RO water with Athena Blended at max levels.

Did 1050 ppms, then added another 4mL of grow A & B for 20mL of each over 5 gallons. Also added more CaMg 2 mL per gallon, for a total of 10mL.

That brought PPMs to 1370. Ph’d mixture to 6.1 and added half to each girls res. By some stroke of luck, PPMs in the res after mixing with the new stuff came out to 1030-1050ppm and 6.3 ph.
Bam.

Hope that helps the girls out. Fingers-crossed.
