Johnnypotseed’s 3-ring circus - with autos, photos & sex…reversals, that is! (Part 2)

A tad chilly at 28* but we’re headed towards 55* later so can’t really complain about that! The temp pretty much dictates how I’m doing these days

How’s by you?

G’morning my friends…

Re-doing my dashboard for my Home Assistant setup here (use that to monitor / control the grow). UGH… Was running HA on a raspberry pi, off the Micro SD card, and the database corrupted. I know better and was lazy, should have been on an SSD drive not the card, cards aren’t made for that kind of usage.

So. I printed up a new case for the pi that runs HA, complete with a place for a 500GB Samsung T5 SSD, got that together and HA is mostly running (thankfully I was able to recover most of my control scripts, those are totally written from scratch and I didnt look forward to recreating them).

But I can’t see things yet. Hence the Dashboard work. My previous dashboard I liked, but as I used HA more, I figured out what worked, and what didn’t, but never made the changes (not urgent enough / didn’t feel like restarting HA 20x).Since this is a fresh install, might as well implement the changes now.

WHO KNEW UX (User Interface) design could be SUCH A PITA. 10 ways to display one thing, 100 things to display, some can be combined, some should be kept separate. Different tabs? Groups? Dashboards? SO many options and ways to do this.

And I need to manually re-add all of my “helpers”, i.e. dates, temp or RH settings, strain names, etc.

Getting there!

27°F here, interesting you aren’t much warmer at the moment. Warmer later today means I can finally get that last strand of christmas lights off the last tree because the ice encasing it will finally melt.

yeah, Right thru the ROOF!!! Everybody wants to move next to me… Haven’t you seen real estate prices in north jersey lately? bwahahahahaha. 1.5x what they were 5 years ago.

Seriously though, my neighbors to the left are a couple in their 30’s. Cool peeps, and when I had plans on moving to Cozumel, they were begging me to stay “we don’t want another neighbor!” LOL. Guess at least THEY think I’m cool enough to live next door to!

Currently at 35 up here, we’re headed for another thaw and freeze here it looks like in the next couple days which is a total bummer, but the gardens dialed in as of this morning so I’m focusing on that win

Yeah I would have expected to have a few degrees on you being further north and near mountains. It is kind of odd.

All of Jersey. Mortgage rates went down hard and people from NYC were snatching up Jersey properties for well over asking. My buddy in Toms River sold his no frills ranch for like 75K above asking and the offer was made before the buyer even saw the property in person. The open houses they did were slammed.

Just pour some sand on the growroom floor, make yourself a margarita and think warm thoughts!

G’morning everyone!

This is why I usually apply my “I know this, but don’t wanna do this, so Imma gonna hire for this” logic

I usually draw things out on a piece of paper like some sort of conspiracy theorist in pencil then go at the “oh yeah! That way!!” with a highlighter later on. I hope the brain strain ends well @Nagel420

Oh and in other news… FINALLY found a smoke here thats productive! I am mostly indica dominant, so that makes it tough to find energizing smoke. But the Tropicana Poison F2 (photo) from @other_barry seems to have that effect on me  Each day I try to smoke something different, so I can discern the effects of each strain. Once I have a few puffs, its not fair to judge another strain, kinda like doing a whiskey tasting while drunk.

Well, packed a bowl of TPF2 yesterday morning and ripped it. Most of the morning I felt like the old lady in “Something About Mary” when she’s on uppers and cleaning house. SERIOUSLY got shit done here! Going for round 2 today, and so far I’m on course…

I make a giant grid in excel… Since the software forces me to a grid of sorts, its logical. Then I just put “what” I want in that grid at first (ie 3x3 thermometer). in a name I can understand. Easy to cut n paste and shuffle like that. Once thats laid out, I’ll paste the code snippets into those cells in place of the name placeholder. THEN finally create the grid in HA, and paste in the snippets there. HA grids take a little more thought than excel, as I can cut n paste in excel. So do all the shuffling in excel, then make one grid in HA and paste in. Works easy enough.

Just deciding what I wanna see, and HOW, is the fun part. Temp and RH go on the same graph for sure, seeing the interaction between the two is a good thing. The rest of its really just what looks nicer… Thank god there’s minimal graphics involved, or I would be making WAY too many things my own. LOL…
