The main thing about them Octos is they’re a commercially made product with the ‘profit margin’ included lol I’m just growing my ganja and don’t want to make someone else money from it. So DIY is the way to go as far as I’m concerned. Same as I did my lights for the budroom. All DIY thnx to @Mr.Sparkle help and guidance!
Them LEDs cost me a whopping $100/per and the equivalent to buy would be around $1500/per
That was using scrap wood laying around to build the frames, just run it through the table saw and cut to length sand a bit and there ya go
This def sounds like a winning “solution” for the issues I recall seeing. I’m sorry folks, I honestly don’t remember what threads I saw the slime issue on
Yup there’s a tweak I’ll add it to the fantasy plan haha lighter but more durable also should put it on bottom side of ply wood decking for any moisture as well huh it would be a stage floor but underneath would be the water reservoir
Where’s the link sir
I don’t have a link to the building out on them LEDs as its been done so much by so many already
But there are a few pics of the growing plants in the budroom posted here and there through this thread. You can see the lights in quite a few of the pics
At DigiKey you get a discount, the more strips and drivers you buy the less you pay. I bought 36 strips, Bridgelux EB series gen2, at once for 630 bucks then the 6 drivers were discounted also
OOOps that was 630 for everything! my bad
So out of pocket was like 105/per unit exactly
For 6 - 3x4 LED fixtures
Nope. 1" air gap and smaller rez = needs water more often, which means water doesn’t sit stagnant. New water pours into bucket and older water leaves bucket via air hole ( at the max water fill line )
OK I can see that, but what about adding the airstones?
I can’t see that not helping
Then it’s DWC deep water culture and whole different ball game… I prefer " Passave Hyrdo "
Wow that deff isn’t a bad gig !
When it come to that ballgame Electricity is not In my favor I’m sure if I did go forward with this at somepoint YouTube and the people of overgrow would be a huge asset !
go talk to @Mr.Sparkle I can’t speak for him, but I’ve never heard of him not willing to give a fellow grower a hand in figuring things out and he knows his stuff on the DIY LEDs
there is another on here, I can’t remember his nic but oldschool member he does DIY LEDs also, but not to disparage him or his methods @Mr.Sparkle ideas are cheaper lol
And isn’t that what DIY is all about?
Getting the job done at as little ‘outta-pocket’ expense as possible?
I can’t believe I spaced on swinging to say good morning today. Hope everyone is doing well, kid had a fever of 102 last night so I’m all out of whack, gotta find some time while she’s napping to read back, looks like a lot of good info on building SIPs getting tossed around✌🏻
Damn man. i hope she’s ok?
Ok i gotta get out to the barn for a few things needing done before too longer. I’ll cyas after a bit
lol waiting to see what @Floyd is saying
She’s good, two negative home COVID tests last night and one negative flu test this morning, so just a nasty cold. Prolly partying too hard over Xmas break
Hey Johnny, I was just on the Octopot website. They explain how the Octopots work for oxygenation very well. They also say airstones are not necessary and may cause problems. PH swings and lower levels of oxygen. Check it out
I did cuz thnx lol I went through ALL of their stuff on the site this morning
I still think I can DIY a lot cheaper
May be not as ‘pretty’ lol but hell as long as it works is my only goal. I’m not looking to win a beauty pageant with em…just grow good ganja!
Should have known. lol
Without a doubt
I’d fiberglass the “stage floor”, we did that in Cozumel to replace the stern on a dive boat. Fiberglass on both sides, plus the edges, both resin and fibers. That shit SITS in water and doesnt rot (I think an EPDM liner beneath the floor would trap moisture in there)
Very interesting indeed. I have been wanting to put a 4x4 strip light in my 4x4 tent but the prices are just too much for me to even think about. I may look into this DIY solution.
