I went to the doctor and I was on my way back and I stopped to call my wife. Anyway as I was leaving the parking lot of the shopping center I stopped at, there was a guy pan handling right in front of a store I know was hiring.

Even back in the 80’s and 90’s it was getting hard to find anyone with drive enough to work for the landscaping co. I worked for. I can’t count the times someone would say “I’m taking off to get lunch at _______ and I’ll be right back”. My boss and I ended up making a game out of whether or not the person would actually be back. Shoot man, we had people who never even called up for what they were owed for the third part of the day they put in. Embarrassment I guess. lol
That’s also why so many went to big round bales for hay. Nobody wanted to buck hay anymore. Finding a reliable crew became near impossible.

I remember back a long time ago. I was a supervisor at a manufacturing plant. The company paid very well, with benefits. Just basic line work. Like put this screw into that hole etc. We would bring in new hires and right after lunch? Bam… No line workers. The work was easier than falling off a scooter. Great pay for the area. Not many other jobs to be had. They just would not show back up. Don’t really know why.
I believe the words are “lazy ass”.

Panhandlers make more money than working hourly, pure and simple answer. Rose went to give some dude money, he was supposedly blind… I told her not to because I’d seen him check the hat/money! I told her watch… sure enough, after someone dropped money in his hat and left. Just a minute later, he looked at it to see how much they gave him! He had the all white cane (indicating total blindness) Not saying everyone that panhandles is a scam, but …

We were going to the store a while back. There was a panhandlers on the corner. I make it a point to not make eye contact. Zee started laffing… I said what?? The guy had a sign that said,
"Lets be Honest…
I need a beer.

There was an article in the New York post about panhandling. They followed a woman who was making 75k+ She would get done with work, go home change into a garbage bag and go panhandle on 34th street

Offer to buy a panhandler a meal and see what they say, lol most will say no thnx just gimme the money.
There was a gal back a year or so ago… she was panhandling on a corner. Someone video taped her leaving the corner after a day of begging… get into her Mercedes Benz, and drive to a very nice home!

I have offered a meal and got a dirty look……
I also met a guy in Philadelphia airport that was panhandling and talked to him a minute about his situation. He informed me this was just a job like any other. He then took me to his Mercedes sport in the parking lot. He told me he was making between 1000-2000 a day panhandling. I had a hard time believing him until he opened the car door and drove away!
