JohnnyPotseed’s Germination Technique

I had water bead on them last time because my vents were too closed or I didn’t ventilate and let them dry out and that was a starting point for wilt on a couple. They get up and start throwing true leaves they can get blown about a bit and stems stiffened. Harden them off from the dome over a few days as long as the rh is ok.

rockwool is not ideal since it can be quite thick and difficult for little ones to penetrate. It made for a good only the strong survive selection though.

Use plastic tubs from the local Indian restaurant lol take away tubs. Wet kitchen roll,once tap root shows into a solo cup with a sandwich bag on top,once they break ground I move them to the tent

I soak mine in ro water for a day or 2 then either into soil, or a peat pod. Prefer the peat pods(i use root riot brand usually) I’ve had a 100% germ rate with them, in soil I lose a few :disappointed_relieved:

Like I said… there’s a lot of different ways to germinate seeds… @Herbie, @anon98660487 & @EugeneDebs420… I’m glad you all have a method that works for you and you like it. This thread I did, was just to show folks how I do it.

lol It seems now, to’ve evolved into a general ‘how I do it’ thread from all… which is fine, if not a bit sidetracked. :wink: :crazy_face:

I love seeing how we all do things slightly different but still get results. The worm castings seem like a good idea.

I shake em in a small box I lined with 100grit sandpaper;
then soak em in distilled water (a splash of h202 if shells are thick) for up to 24hours (or if they pop and show their tail);
then place them directly into Promix BX carefully with an espresso spoon and a chopstick tail-down with helmet 1/2 exposed and follow up by with a little re-packing around the mound with the chopstick.

This goes into my propagation tent at 25-28c with dome; each day opened/wiped down and then a spritz of distilled water around the edges of the planted seed (avoiding the seed at all costs!).

Doing all this has netted me 100% success since I’ve started doing this. Now when I get prepped for RDWC, I do the same and then make clones from the resulting plant and then keep the seed plant as a potential mother; or veg it all through winter for the next summer grow! :smiley:

Hey @JohnnyPotseed, do you open your vents on the dome once you’ve placed the seeds on the EWC and the towel on top? I’m going to give this method a try. I still jump all over the place when it comes to sprouting. I like the idea of being able to see the seed. Thanks for the tips!!

I leave them closed, since I also have a shop towel draped over to put things into complete darkness. Never had any problems, always germ in just a day or two.

Mite be an Irish saying

Never tried skinning a cat either, gotta wonder just where the hell that saying originated! I mean like who the hell would skin a cat? or even why?

You can skin anything if you hold onto 1 part of it tight enough and spin it hard enough?

@anon98660487 : Another Irish Saying: “FUCK-YOU YE WANKER ENGLISH SCUM!”

I do have some English friends, we all stick together when we come to the states lol…I’ve been called an English bastard few times over the years here in San Francisco morons can’t tell the difference between an Irish and English accent :rofl:

I do use wanker a lot… :joy: never cunt that’s a straight up fighting word

I worked with a guy from Hackney for a few years. It was like a pub with all the dialogue going on. We called each other cunts all the time (unless someone was around as north americans are not good with vaginal insults).

Also, if you came into the tech cage on Mondays all you heard was Iron Maiden because “MAIDEN MONDAYS”.

I also did “UNCAGED FRIDAY”; where I set up a digital projector and via a die-roll played a Nicholas Cage movie on the wall, lights off, while we all still were working.

Met a few Brits and Irishmen in my diving travels. One guy from Bristol loved the word wanker, and a guy from Wales, I swear c*nt was his favorite word (dude, ya gotta stop saying that, might be a different context in wales, but thats like the insult of insults here).

Never could understand the Irishmen :wink: ROFLMAO (j/k!)
