Update
Look like 5 of the 10 have tails
The roots know which way to go the curls donât contribute to a make or break situation.
Over 4 days and thatâs all ya got, not good.
From my experience, itâs much easier to plant a sprouted seed with a straight taproot into a peat pellet or rockwool than it is to plant a seed with a curled taproot.
I recently crossed JOTIâs Black Candyland with my GSC. I just harvested the seeds this past week and was letting them dry out before I sent them out to testers. I thought Iâd try to pop a few on the 18th of March (not quite 72 hours ago). I tossed all 3 in the same peat pellet without any preparation of any sort. I just grabbed them from the pile and put them in the peat pellet. This photo was just taken a few minutes ago:
So as you can see, 2 of them are well on their way. In fact, they were growing above the pellet in less than 48 hours. The 3rd one, circled in yellow, was actually pushing above the soil last night, but I didnât look very closely at it until just now. When I did, I used a plastic toothpick to pull back the peat to see what was going on. Turns out, it was the damn taproot that was pushing out of the soil, and looked like it was already starting to dry out. So I intervened, pulled open a larger hole and replanted it with the root down. Weâll see if it makes it, but there are 2 things this shows: A vigorous seed can become a baby plant in less than 2 days - and a taproot doesnât always know which way to go.
I dont use those contraptions.
Depends what you use for starting and medium.
Wonât waste my pennies on them
OkâŚunderstood. I was just addressing your thoughts on taproots. It might be true for you, but others who who âcontraptionsâ like peat pellets or rockwool may have different results, and I still contend that itâs easier to transplant a seed with a straight taproot.
It helps some, yes.
Alright
I mess with my seeds too much so Iâve gone to putting them into soil after 1 hour soak in full strength H2O2 and 24 hours in water. Then I put them in a seed tray with a wicking mat, over a heat pad. I used to try and rut the correct end of the seed down first into the hole but kept having problems with loop t loop tap roots.
Now I just lay it down sideways and cover it slightly. Seems to be giving me better results now. I seemed to always f them up in paper towels. Either dry completely out or damp off. I think I used too much moisture for fear of it drying out.
What Iâve found works the best for me instead of paper towels is to use a piece of a new sponge wetted and placed in a Tupperware container with a lid with a tiny bit of excess water in the container so it doesnât dry out. I put it on my seedling mat or on top of the water heater and Bingo! Iâve had better success that way at least vs. using paper towels
Great idea!
I have four screens of varying sizes. I have a honey sieve thatâs about the size of a couple small pot. I hand rub the buds or shake into sieve over the top screen and then dump it on the screen. I use a pen to bang on the screen like a drum until I feel no more will pass through and repeat until I finish going through the product. Take top screen off and drum as much sifted product through the next three screens you will have different grades of kief after drumming each screen.
Enjoy
Blackberry Breath germ Final report of 20, 16 germinated after some time. 4 no showsâŚIâd say thatâs not bad but they took their damn time. Just buried the last one today
Ya but how many came up so far
Yes thatâs what counts .
These group buys could be the end of this tool bag. Missing strains are people having germ problems like I did and thought it was a fluke, guess not. Hope the stuff on the second order does better. Donât matter how fire it is if the seeds donât germ
Yeah Fuck JOTI and his little white beans!!!
Weâre a few hundred short on a 5k+ order. He just made a lot of people mad with that bullshit
