Veg room:
Topped (Blue) Laurel and (Green) Hardy today, just to see what they would do. Both had an apical bud but were in reveg light. Neither merrited a space in the tent. Cut buds have slightly tacky feel, no stickyness yet. Cut tops smell like green candy (7-up? maybe) with slight fecal tone. Possibly due to residual foliar nitrogen.
I want to make seeds. I have not done that before (not intentionally with males). I am not persuaded of a strategy. Three options are on the table.
Selective pollination with one male and all females.
Open pollination with several males.
Paired coupling of similar structural phenotypes (totem pole, christmas tree, bush, candelabra)
I am not clear why I am saving ALL my males. Partly because I don’t know what criteria to use for culling. Sounds like “tall” is not necessarily an asset. If they get big they will become hard to manage. If they don’t there wont be much hash.
CGxPR, grown from seed. Revegged for winter. She is decidedly stable sexually (unlike her hermed sibling). I wonder what the JS will do. I think I will call their progeny “Three Jungles.”
OK.
I am going to do a three male open pollination.
I currently see myself growing indoors to explore and outdoors for abundant bud, so while I recognise that height is not an asset for a male in breeding I want to encourage size.
Solo cup (blue) is the only one with a strong (fuel) stem rub.
Big Red has a candelabra structure, strong side growth and the most abundant flowers. She will be the Red representative at this little orgy.
Big Green is tall too, with plenty of flower sites.
