I’ll have to try harder then
I was a regular member for as long as I can remember. Now I suppose I’m an irregular member.
There’s no human activity or will behind that, only an algorithm and maths done with your number of visits, posts and specially readings, you will recover it soon, you have already built your rep so no worries about that …
It’s pretty much all covered in:
Should a member that has been banned be allowed to keep their pips or status bar ?
The pips or status bar are just an indication of likes received so banned members would retain them but they would do them no more good than they do for non banned members.
Yes I know what you mean but …
Let’s say a member was banned , throughout their postings they have spread a bit of bad science, info or procedures that were not corrected .
A newbie may not know to check on that members avatar, see by the pips or bar that it looks like the member has creed and follow what they thot was good info.
Just my thoughts .
That is true however, they may also do the same with a member that’s not banned. I don’t see removing pips being a big factor. That said, the whole pip system has been reworked. It seems only 8 members have bars, the rest have pips and there is pretty much no difference between say 87k likes and 300k likes. Prior to the changes there was a very noticeable difference. Regardless, accumulation of likes has never been a good metric to judge trust or knowledge by. Research and interaction are the only real ways to gauge folks in my opinion and one should never just blindly follow someone’s advice without putting in some time and confirming things using other sources. I do agree with you that to some, it can be a deceptive way to measure things. But really feel the changes to the system corrected much of that issue.
I don’t understand the intention of the last change, you create a system to motivate members to contribute with good info and stories or just helping so people can appreciate what they do with giving a like but then you freeze the possibilities of getting more pips while putting a scale impossible to accomplish for the veteran members who will be stuck for years with the same pips, strange and demotivating reward for them …
Banned people normally have their conflictive posts deleted, so no worries about that…
I miss a reading bar …
Some of us are sneaking in the shadows… And barely enter trivial conversations, or refuse to enter others to not cause more drama/disturbes.
Actually we have a read time in stats just check the profile.
Yes, I am aware of that.
But as others are comparing his pips… Hahaha
In other side of things:
I must confess that I am related to computers for more than 40 years, and joined maaaaany forums and boards, but this is the first and only one that keep me returning almost everyday. So thanks and keep the good work Joe (and all the community).
