Thanks for giving them a chance, mines had nute deficiencies, I think they are heavy feeders, any update?
If there was a way to get your plants off of the roofing material, the Roots will be cooler… and perform much better.
even an inch of elevation will help
Its a tent-shot, but these plastic elevators do exactly that. Good Luck with the heat @firehead
@firehead - An additional way to deal with the hot surface might be to either paint it white (or use a more durable white rooftop sealer), or maybe just put down a white tarp or whatever.
These finally got here, if you didn’t see my other post on my journal. @firehead
Thanks once again…
Bumping the thread to tell I checked the addy (at last) and Kashmir beans were there, together with one of the coolest postcard I received yet
Thanks a lot @firehead, kashmir is such a mythical weed place, looking forward to taste this one. A cool brick in the genepool, potentially a good backbone for crosses. Keep us updated with your explorations!
I dropped a bunch of Kashmir beans into water yesterday. 10 from the 2021 run, and 10 from the recent 2024.
Reason being… I think the original ones from W.F.(Diggy) had weirder, stronger (better) terps than the 2024s.
I’m going to keep the 2021 beans separated in another tent, in another room. And at ANY sign of variegated leaves (tobacco mosaic) they are all getting burned. But, if they seem clean, I’m gonna use male pollen from the 2021 batch, to pollinate 2024 females to merge the 2 phenos.
We’ll see how this goes…
Been debating about picking up some Kashmir myself. Look forward to watching your continued work.
Will definitely be interesting to have the two lines side by side, and check if there’s really a contamination issue in the 2021 lot. Looking forward your discoveries!
The problem is that some seeds may have it and some may not so even if one group grows fine another may not , also not all plants show signs of infection and may sneakily pass it on to other plants
I agree ∆∆∆, don’t seem to be a good idea taking risks of spreading again that virus, a clean Kashmir and leaving behind that unfortunate story associated with that strain is all we need now …
Ok. I am hearing the concerns and deciding how to proceed.
At the moment I’ve got 8 of the clean 2024 batch of seedlings sprouted… but only 1 of the 2021 batch sprouted. Waiting to see if more pop up
On Monday I’m going to call the lab at the state university plant lab center, and see if they do testing for mosaic viruses and others. I think that would be the best way to have confidence in clean plants…
If I can send them plant and seed samples and get a clean bill of health, then it should be safe to proceed.
Also, this will answer the question for sure if the virus is present at all
For what it is worth, anyone wishing to keep up with some outdoor of the original KashAz welcome to join me here:
At some point I’ll scare up some pics of Agdia tests I ran on both plant material and the original seeds from WC that all show negative results for Mosaic.
