Grow Diary in which I went no veg with three cuttings of one Kosher Cookies feeding with Plagron, one with my mates own mineral nutrient solution and one using both fertilizers.
To begin with why I carried out this experiement. Triggered by many discussions with fellow smokers and growers, and the common saying that minerals nutrients helps bulking allowing for high yields, while organic nutrients and living soil gives lower yields but a richer terp profile. I wanted to run a test with final blindfold tests to see what smokes better, disregarding yield completely. To test this the cuttings needed to have the same genetics and conditions to grow under. I made a mother from seed with no selection due to limeted space, I still had some freebies from DNA genetics and went with kosher cookies.
No Veg is great! Rooting in 12/12 seemed a bit scary at first, as rooting is also associated with vegetative growth. Plants rooted nicely are showing no sign of flowering yet. I decided to top after 5-6 nodes, to get a bushier plant as I didnt want to waste any light in the already tight space. This step was also extremly difficult to take considering streatching will only take place for about 2 weeks of flowering initiation.
Both the organic treatments got dried chicken manure pellets and vulcanic ash (for trace elements) worked into the substrate.
My mate that made the nutrient sulution used a unwashed nutrient bottle causing the minerals to percipitate, leaving me without nutrients for the mineral treatment for the first week post transplant. (to not fully starve the treatment I went with a cheap cutflower mineral fertilizer from the garden store)
Substrate in all treatments is coco-peat previously used in an organic grow, and flushed out prior transplantation.
I started the first two weeks with an EC of 1.7 in both treatments and a pH of 5,5 acidified using citric acid.
Here they are, I was extremely surprised how well they were doing despite my humidifier breaking and the sensor measuring a VPD from 0.7-1.8!
I can finally see the girls hairs poking out, signalling more generative action.

A closeup of Mineral Treatment (Mateys Mineral Fert). Just recovering from the suboptimal garden store nutrients!
Day 25 Lolliepopped
When they got mid flower ~day 45 post transplant larger differences were seen, although EC is the same in all fertilizers (2.1) Large differences are seen in Nitrogen availiability at the plants level.
In the Pic u can clearly see the differences between the treatements (Dark Green = Mineral) (Light Green = Organing)(Middle Green = Mineral / Organic).
Here’s the final picture pree harvest!
Sadly got powdery mildew in the end of flower, mostly on fan leaves on all treatments.
Beware fellow Ghetto Grower, saving a buck getting soil from other peoples grows is only worth it if you know the grow went fungus and soilborne pest free
I only found out there was mildew in the grow I got the soil from after it was tooo late FuC{{
Left Organic mineral// Middle Mineral // Right Organic.
Notice the anatomy differences where mineral is much mor compact as a plant with more horizontal volume where the organic is is more vertical in growth and less dense as a plant. This was also the case when gently squiching the fresh colas on the plants.
More closeups will follow as well as a smoke judgement of all treatments… tired and stoned… just gonna upload how I transformed my 60x60cm tent into a two story tent with propagation and bonzai mothers section.
I went through a dumpster next to a construction finding this readjustable steel scelleton. this way I could build a stable table that can hold a high load. Then sawed some scrap wood sheets to size and covered them with reflective foil salvaged from a first aid kit.
The only part I bought was a thick black rubber sheet used for waterproofing ponds, This was super nescessary to make the two sections light and water proof.
This would have been mega usefull for continuos propagation and harvest in the same small space, sadly my greedy ass didn’t allow this due to an extreme mildew overtake of the flowering section ((after my experiement) when i was gone for 3 weeks and had only a blumat caring for them).
I was lucky to be able to save the bonzai mothers placing them on my balcony while cleaning the growspace with vinegar and dishsoap.
Pretty cool experiment. I look forward to the smoke report between the 3.
Thanks mate, I thought so too, especially as I love living soil and organic, find it a little strange to grow living soil indoors tho. A friend of mine changed my mind showing me his living 50L pots, with all types of life in it. Sadly space doesnt really allow me this, also he was growing cover crops while new seedlings were getting prepared (to never leave the soil naked, I cant really do that as I want to harvest perpetually).
@mongbae helped me out making a taste panel for the blindfold test, because the curing of the treatments was only done by the time I went on vacation I could only gather limeted reviews haha (its also kinda challenging to get stoners to only smoke one treatment at a time, without smoking anything else before/inbetween treatment groups).
I will upload the scoring sheets anyway maybe if someone else want to do a similar experiment.
@mongbae was inspired by cannabis cup grading I believe. In the end I think most people that did smoke the three treatments never filled in this form, or just never sent it back to me. So I can only really share my personal, not fully unbiased review of the treatments.
great journal - interesting about “cannabis cup” grading
Damn good to see you here bro! @KeepItAerobic420
Very very nice journal tho
will follow up the result
