Well you have to look on the positive side, at least this Hurricane is not bringing snow like White Juan did, we would be 10-15 meters deep in it lol.
This is very true lol. I still have nightmares from shovelling all that snow lol. The 4 wheeler couldn’t do it so I had to shovel in layers lmao
We lost one big tree between the neighbours and our property line, Its sad as it was a nice big old tree. The neighbour lost an apple tree and a big spruce on the other side of his place as well. Thankfully the rain was minimal even if the winds were high, kept the roof on at least but the outside of the house is covered in shredded tree leaves, looks like a bad camo job lol.
Hopefully your power is back on, we lost ours around 11.15 last night and it came back on just after 12 mid day.
@Shadey Yeah my house looks the same lol a wood chipper pointed at the house with debris thrown in. We were lucky I lost my outdoor plants and a tree on the other side of the river. Nothing major at all. I lost power Friday night got it back Saturday night but I had no phone or internet until a couple hours ago.
Now that I can actually see what happened to other places I can’t believe how lucky we were
Looking at what happened further up in Canso, Cape Breton, PEI and Newfoundland we were very lucky with what we got away with, I have a couple of buddies who are still waiting to get their power back, they have been told maybe Wednesday
My parents are down the eastern shore and they are saying Friday for them. They have no damage to anything and they have a generator and lots of gas but that’s still a while.
With the price of gas its expensive as well as the inconvenience but I would rather have a generator than go without power.
Its on the list to buy for our new house, we have always been lucky here, the power has never been off for long, we must have some politicians living on our grid somewhere around here lol.
It was a needed purchase for me. We have an older house that’s built near a river and it has a sump pump in the basement I have about 10 minutes to get it set up and running after the power goes out before the basement gets wet.
I’m getting tired of that so moving to a newer home is definitely next on the need to purchase list lol
Yeah the possibility of your basement flooding every time tbe power goes out is a stress you don’t need in your life for sure.
It bad enough running around with battery powered lights for your plants in flower, to keep them in the same light time and from stressing out lol.
What river are you near?
The mackintosh run goes behind my house
Thats looks like a fast flowing river from the pic’s I was just looking at, does it freeze up in winter.
It flows out of kidstons lake, it’s not usually bad unless we get a lot of rain. Most times by winter it’s barely a trickle and what is there will freeze but spring and fall it can move pretty good. And if the city isn’t on top of cleaning out culverts it can get pretty wide
Just got some clones from @Neb. I’m running these in coco and when I get back from work in a couple weeks I will set up my diy drip system and see how it works.
The clones are cherry Garcia, meat breath, garlic Chem, snow dust, and legendary Larry.
They look a bit sad, I hope they pick up quick for you.
That’s expected. Aero clones into a medium other then water always get a little cranky with me lol. The roots were huge on these so it shouldn’t be long before they spring back
Yeah when mine came out of the aero cloner, I had to put them under a humidity dome for a few days until they picked up and got their roots into the soil.
I was just checking out that house ad on Zillow you put up in another threat lol. What a wicked view that would be. Was that something your looking at?
If it was the BC one we thought about it but Mrs Shadey would have to find a new job when we got there, and as its coming up for winter, and she would have to drive 40 minutes in each direction to either Kelowna or Vernon and they don’t plough their roads, it was not a good idea.
Mrs Shadey hates driving on snow or ice, and with her neefing a new job we probably would not get a mortgage.
That view was amazing, just wake up every morning and sit there looking at it having breakfast or in the evening with a pipe full weed and a glass of wine on the deck lol.
Yes that view was amazing hopefully someday I will get to wake up to something like that lol.
