Sorry to beat the dead horse. I am letting it go but i would ask is that you lay out the obvious expectations for all the people so the rules are listed in writing. I guess my feelings got hurt and i havenāt processed the event to my minds satisfaction. I was just trying so hard to get back to being on level footing with you as i admired your willingness to help people and teach. No more will be spoken on the subject.
FWIW, the notion of ātesterā seed arrangements is totally foreign and unkown to me. That said, LED was very clear about his policy when I asked about the seeds.
I turned it down because I donāt have the space here or the time to become someoneās employee for a grow. Iād rather send the $100 to James Bean.
But these issues are what happen when you give something away. People do whatever they want. Iāve found making people pay for things changes everything. Then only the people that truly want and deserve the item will get it. I canāt imagine the difficulty of trying to work with individuals all over the world via the internet and trying to get them to comply with your needs!
I am quickly learning that a lot of people do not know the spoken rules of seed testing. Itās really pretty simple. Test = grow out seeds and see what you see in the females. Itās really pretty simple, but in the future I will try and make it more clear. That said, I have made two threads on testing on this forum. Both are pretty clear, and because the first one ended up costing me 6 full packs of seeds, plus 40 bucks in wasted shipping I had to tighten things up this run. The 5 I choose this round will tell you my PM is quite clear, and I have learned from past mistakes.
Iāve also learned when people tell me they will follow said guidelines, and they donāt they no longer test for me. An example would be telling me you got all males without a single picture documenting said evidence of males. All that does is create suspicion for me, and in my eyes shines a bad light on the seeds to the public. Of course people in the know will know better but for newer growers all they see is āAll Malesā.
Itās even more amusing to me when someone makes a remark about the genetic when two others are killing it on the same strain and the plants look perfect. Every time I think I had seen it all someone surprises me.
That is certainly your prerogative to do so. Lots donāt have two sticks to rub together so $100 bones is a lot of money. I do not discriminate and as long as someone is willing to test I give the seeds away. I donāt hold a gun to anyoneās head and I certainly wouldnāt want someone feeling like they were an employee. I put guild-lines in place and if someone can meet those, cool. If they canāt thatās cool too.
i looked at the whole testing thing as being a privilege. It means the breeder thinks you can grow weed and make good decisions about your grow. It means there is some level of trust, and in the case of a new tester, it is an advance on trust, the breeder has to give enough rope loose to see if folks can be be trusted, or if they simply hang themselves with said rope.
It also means the seeds given to you for a test grow are not your own, strings are attached. and as well they should be. you are testing someone elseās hard work, time and money spent on a genetic line.
if done correctly, a tester can get to search through genetics looking for fire before most peeps can even buy the seeds. and the breeder gets to see growers from all regions and ability running their gear. gives the breeder a broader range of vision on his stock before pulling the trigger and releasing them to the markets.
Its about respect.
Its being able to say at the end of the grow, that you gave the breeder the best view and the truest information you could give him about his work.
Your system seems fair enough to me! If I had more space I would have loved to participate, and I enjoy watching these threads of peoplesā grows. When people give me seeds it often takes a few years before I get to themā¦thatās not going to cut it for a testing program
I was looking for pistillate primordia, stiminate primordia and clusters. Pretty sure sepal is on most regular flowers, but referred to as calyxās on cannabis plants. I may be wrong on that though.
I give myself 1 1/2 right. The sepal I got confused with stipules: that pointy leaf that usually comes up at the internodes and is often confused with female pre flowers.
Mine are like this, LGOGxSF had four males so far that started to show during 18/6, but that definitely showed pollen sacks coming, so i only got 8 plants left, two unhealthy ones among them. Hoping the healthy ones turn out to be female.
