Looks damn good to me I’d love to crawl through that also!
I holler for @Tinytuttle all the time!! He is used to it!
Thanks man. Just want to get this one right.
Work castings look awesome @Cartwright how long have ya been worm hobbyist? How long do you let worm bins go before harvesting?
That’s funny stuff right there.
Hey Tiny,
I killed my first worms almost 10 years ago. Now I tend to keep them alive, if not thriving half the time,
As for how long, meh I dunno, til they look done, i guess. It depends alot on the weather, as a warm winter will keep them rocking pretty good,.
So, with that in mind, I’d say the rootball pot i dropped a dozen worms in and some egg cases, should be done by Spring, with a little encouragement.
So many lbs this year, may need to sell some
Looking great @WMoon518!
for sure love stopping in and leering at yalls wormy goodness It never ceases to amaze me how efficient and fast them wiggly little guys do there job best investment I ever made I plan some serious expansion to the verm bins come spring
I gave them their first “feeding” with about a pound of chopped up cauliflower leafs and cores and some broccoli ends. Chopped them up real small in a food processor and added some or the coffee ground to the bedding. There are around 500 in there, so what should I be looking at as far as next feeding? A few days to a week?
I’d give it a week and check food levels as you go after a couple good feeds you should be good at estimating what they eat
Seems like it’s not very active here, lately, so it’s good I have a question. Just pressed about 10 lbs of grapes and wanted to make sure there was no problem putting the “pulp” (I guess you would call it) in with my worm scraps. I know everyone is saying to limit the amount of coffee grains, as they are real acidic, but what about this? Is all the acidy goodness pressed out with the juice?
I think it’s only citrus fruit you need to avoid using, so they should be good, just remember to keep it balanced with other things as well.
I have been. I mix all of the veggies, avo parts and coffee/tea (well some of it. the rest gets bagged separately) together, bag it up and freeze it.
You may get some compost heat but they should be great.
Some thought
I read about this in college. The original worms were brought over in the soil used to ballast boats. This would have been some 1492 type boats.
Though some you you here would find this useful.Enjoy
