Let's see your worm bins!

I used to use the egg cartons. But my worms spend alot of the year outdoors, and I find any cardboard in my bins equals slugs. So, egg carton, etc…go in compost pile.

I’m going to try them for slug traps. Delicious with a little salt

My worm bin is kinda a mess right now, full of worms, saw fly larvae, and isopods. Will have to be thoroughly sifted and cleaned before using it inside.

I’ve bought worms from Peacefull Valley, local worm guys, and Uncle Jim’s. Uncle Jim’s had the best worms and frequently has deals. https://unclejimswormfarm.com/. Arizona Worm Farm is another I’d like to try.

Just bought the 100 red wigglers from uncle Jim’s super excited. I think it was like 30 bucks and free shipping

Should be enough for my small operation

I didn’t think it was terrible, was hoping on this thread I might end up in a situation I “know a guy” though :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What do you do use for screening the worm castings?

I get mine from Uncle Jim’s also. Once from the Uncle Jim’s and the rest from Amazon but Uncle Jim’s.

I usually just let the bin dry out a bit, so the worms pack together, then put pumpkin or avocado on top. most every worm will ball up under the food. Then you just scoop them out, and place them in their new home. Just one way to do it, much less laborious then screening them out tho

I’m like a 20 minute ride from UJ’s, since they have no pick up area, I got to pay shipping, for a 20 minute ride to my house.
