This week was pretty much disappointing. After applying the PK … not much reaction and my shit-tornado-radar was blinking as fuck. I was waiting the full expression to figure out what type of funk i got, but I’ve to cull most of these beautiful plants.

In my bad luck … i’m lucky, all latent herms are pure expression. To say it simply, they just fuck themselves directly from the core. I can play the card for the weed, in this specific case it don’t last more than two weeks. But … it’s a kind of cold shower and it will fuck my planning. I was expecting a couple of late herms like back in the days, I know the historic flaw of this line. But i was not expecting to be forced to screen it like a raw landrace, damn.

Star’s alignment or Jah sign, my love affair look stable and reliable. Sometimes it’s writed since the start. I kept also the fake-siamese, it’s finally a female. In case of …

For now i’m blaming a bad batch until the sogged seeds are talking.

Don’t lie to yourself, you knew what was happening and why. This form of pure herms is not innocent, specialy when they represent the dominant expression on this scale.

Fuck that, even if it can’t spread around. I don’t accept to get the job done myself, like a damned beta version to finish yourself. wtf these new QC standards.

I will kill the Jack Herer male too, project canceled. Anyway i’ve to restart in F1 to have this daily pure.

The worst is that they are beautiful specimens … double pain. Maybe i will get the guts tomorrow to cut them. But don’t get me wrong, i know it’s a pandemic situation mostly hidden. I just don’t give a fuck enough to show it with transparency here.

Let’s kill this bottle of rhum and “onward trough the fog” like say someone.

Not much to tell about the previous week, the space still under recovery. Blank round. I kept two specimens from the previous batch, for watching.

The little thing from a double ovary that survived insane levels of nutes as a frozen seedling, aside a giant herm. Hopes still alive, maybe it’s a stable female (i don’t believe it one second).

For this one it was doomed, I’ve pushed a bit longer for the dissection, and i don’t regret the ride.

Pods are growing fertilized from the core of the bud, literally grapes of insane number of seeds wrapped by flowers. I understand more why the specimens are freezing so hard suddenly. All the specimens of the batch, -1, i’m a kind of amazed by the expression and it’s stability among very different phenotypes.

People have fun with it sometimes but it’s more current that it look, what got my attention is the formation of the seeded pods.

This + the variegation (present on new seedlings too) … i cross my fingers to be able to fight against the strain now. To screen it is an obligation, i start to ask myself if 100% pure herms are not only what i will got from the BB. If i’m lucky enough with the second batch, it’s a good opportunity to show how it can be done at an insane rate with only a 4x4. The phenos are very good actually, worth the try to save her asses before … well it’s already well bloody. I shit in my pants for the NL#5 x Haze.

Keep the vibes high, and see ya !

Busy week, but not so in the crop. I’ve a kind of “here we go again” aftertaste. For now the plants are quite boosted and the new german seedling’s soil is a keeper.

Evolution during one week of the last specimen remaining from the first batch, unexpected dwarf from a double ovary seed. She’s from the phenotype’s class i’m trying to extract, let’s cross the fingers again.

The “onebuds” are pretty much vigorous and notations have started. They will start to declare this week i guess.

I resist all days to launch seeds, one funny project on a classic is on the go and i’m tempted to get some Critical Mass. Messy planning, i don’t like it but I’ve to adapt. Genpool reload first, blunts last.

See you around ^^

Boring week again, with a kind of bitter taste in mouth. March/July, not a single step done for now. I’m straight in my boots, i knew what was the price today to deal with commercial releases : the hard way. But in a minimized setup it take another dimension i wasn’t imagining. With a veg space overgrown, the tolerance is bigger and you see less the bad funk as an entire equation. But i bless it in a way, it rejuvenate the rage about high standards.

The unexpected specimen of the first batch still identifying as a female for now lol. Fingers crossed, but the buds start to look like a bit too much like a thai monoecious line. No bracts alert but now i know where to look.

I’m well served in variegation at least with this second batch. I don’t like it, i’ve the impression to be sit on a TNT box with the potential to waste another couple of month. May Jah be around.

On phenotypes, it’s a true continuation at least. To the point to get another single “top model”, the exact same shape and stats. I find the stretch of the onebuds a bit lazy for 24 days, but nothing dramatic for now.

Declaration are on the go, i got one female this week. I expected more declaration considering the first batch, but it’s a good sign. The more long to declare the better in this shitty context.

Can’t wait to finish this never-ending round and to germinate the next one.

Stay strong and green !

The new team is in cruiser speed, all good for now. Three females and two males are clearly representing the first hormonal wave, none link between the phenos. Time will say if this group is a potential worry.

On a more light subject, they have reached now the state where untrained eyes can’t say that these plants were directly flowered without veg.

The survivor of the first batch passed the 63th day, it’s a specific case. She was in stasis until i transplant her, i start to like her even if she look like a sogged clone.

SCBB range, good structure of flowers. Incredible resistance to high nutrients levels while freezed as seedling, and now pretty much economical while flowering. I will lower by 25% the base and apply the PK at 30% next week. Considering the timing of all others plants of the batch, and its subgroup, she was supposed to turn herm already. Maybe a miraculous event, the extra P will be a fire test. Time to prey Jah.

I’m mad to be locked, can’t germinate seeds for now until I’ve paired something decent. The first priority packs are on hold, with new references coming. I’ve a couple of slow sativa-ish old seeds, maybe it’s the right opportunity. I’m very much at the point to mount three additional tents to sort this mess but i don’t want to lose my bet ^^ Almost 6 full months done on 12, 50% won, it’s stupid to give up at this point. Però merda teníeu raó, mentalment ja he trencat.

In front of this waste of time, i’ve finally decided to switch in industrial mode until i can work with my own screened progeny. It will be mostly about a cattle management this year i think, not much selection.

See you around.

The oldest specimen start to be tiny aside the onebuds, that will not really look like a SOG at the end ^^ I’ve even an attention whore in the back right.

Everything is alright for now, but i’m not pushing the plants one bit. At all. I will wait to can work with my own seeds, in good number. No more risks taken with commercial releases, the previous 6 months still hurting my ass.

She continue to surprise me, now the PK is fully in action and the Aptus one have the particularity to dramatize quickly the organoleptic sides. It’s a mix between the very sugared CM Bilbo, the candied clove of a famous early 2000’s swiss cut of BB and the gassy sugar cane of the SCBB. Finally Jah saw my tears more than expected.

But i’m in the razor edge, males are healthy but delayed by the time to receive the second batch + pre-veg days :

And i can be happy, the customer service was stellar and fast enough to make a cross-batch possible.

I will boost the males in PK to can pollinate within two weeks. It’s hot for the female, she start to stack as fuck already.

Can’t wait to make two seeded females, cull the males and to just grow weed with these ones. It’s also the sign i can germinate the next line(s).

See you around, keep the vibes high.

This week they found an excuse from nowhere to boost as hell. They will be soon equally tall with the first batch that got almost two months of veg. One herm already spotted by my super-nose-power, I’ve bad feeling allready for this batch. Not sure i will be able to finish a single one, but the seeded female in the center. Incredible. But i knew i signed for the hell.

I wasn’t betting one dime on her and finally… she totally save the honor. She will be pollinated with a stable male the next week. But i don’t dream one minute, I’ve an hardcore screening to set for at least three generations to bring back this line in an healthy state.

The shiska pollen of SHSC-1 is doing his job on the lowest secondaries, i’m pretty happy and amazed at a time. It mean a lot, a new funky project for OG is born from this confirmation. To be continued.

A pack of Critical Mass is on the go, i was initially planning to make a side by side with the BB but … another long story.

Since the start of the year, I feel like I’m taking out the trash of the commercial releases. Even if I was ready for it, the anger is growing a bit.

So i will launch in the same time an old F1 cross of pure sativas, just to change a bit my mind and to see also if the seeds still alive. They are enough long as hell to don’t stress me if ever i got a few specimens. But they are tall as fuck and never stop to stretch during over 4 months, i will be forced to use hardcore training.

I definitively need something to grow that doesn’t have any sense, far from what is the industry today.

Stay strong, fight the mediocrity.

The bitches stopped to rush this week end, buds are coming gently. I will take the time to make this update a bit more dense, because from here it can turn bad and they can disappear suddenly. Surprise of the week, they are all smelling like a fucking expresso. No sense.

Also, they aren’t supposed to be big and tall like this without any vegetative stage. And more flowered. They just don’t give a fuck. The attention whore in the background is looking like a losted haze-tourist in the pack, no sense again.

One another that don’t give a fuck is this strange chick survivor from the first batch. 141 days of grow, no sense. But the scents are incredible.

His brother don’t stop to cover her, i wrapped him, brushed the buds with flowers … she took one week to finally accept the pollen.

But she took in one night the canadian shishkaberry pollen on the lowest stems. Diva bitch. Still look like a good mother, seeds in formation have a nice caliber.

Finally !!! After all these months, the first seeds of the year are coming and i can close the Big Bud folder for a time.

The male don’t give up and have nice pearls, i’ve topped him to accelerate the process and bring back the female under the dense light. He will rest in peace soon. Thx potent buddy, you saved my ass.

I’m torturing this one badly since a week, pruned today to remove the flowers from the top. He stay in the grow space, without any lamp but the daylight and erratic lights when i come check the seeds and the plants. If he’s a latent, i will know it fast. I try to gently burn him with some PK too, between two hardcore dry cycles. Make me proud buddy, so i can make a seconday pairing with one female of the second batch, if any I’ve not culled them all.

The #16 is nice, balanced. Too much.

The #12 is ridiculous, i only like her delicate structure.

The #13 is nice, drink a lot and have the most generous floral mass at this stage, but i suspect a herm badly. So i’m pretty rough with her to quickly have a good reason to cull her. Even if she’s stable i will not use her i think, too much hardcore variegation everywhere.

The #19 is a complicated subject. I like her globally, but she’s the close sister of my love affair of the first batch. And she was more a beauty than a good horse. Also with a ratio of 2:21, i’m not sure to want to take this ride considering how hard I’ve to screen the twos next generations.

I like the #18, not majestic but elegant in most of trait even if a little bit too much NLish on the bottom. The whole plant make sense, and i like how feel the phloem under my fingers. Good candidate if any.

The #14 look like a tramp, but a solid one. As the attention whore of the group, she succeeded on the goal to can’t be ignored. She have a few hard variegation, her phyllotaxie is weird and got unbalanced secondaries on some nodes. And she look like a losted seed in the package. But i love her like the stupid dog always running everywhere she’s representing. I can be equally stupid than her and try a ride, she wake up the punk in me.

This week i was also a bit bored. Soon one month that i’ve ordered the Mr Nice Critical Mass from the mothership and it still in preparation. So … why not doing a spring cleaning in the old seeds. I think i will crack another pack today, i’ve two free slots in the seed sprouter ^^

On the bottom, a Zamal x Ghanna IBL F1 and on the upper quarter a Skywalker F2 that was used to create the STK#1 F1. Chances to pop something are thin, but who know. In any case i don’t think i will stop to launch germinations until the tent is overcrowded as fuck. I need it psychologically.

The next week, maybe an OG project will start. Something fun and that carry a nice message, i love it. I will dedicate an exhaustive post for it, to give the details to the fools losted in this corner of the web.

That’s all for now, make seeds, plant them, repeat.

Quiet week, the ladies are building the stuff and stuffing the build. For herms i’m in plain red zone, but i’m enough confident to plan an extra for their roots the coming week. I will see how it turn until Wednesday.

They are totally not compliant with SOG from seeds plants obviously but less than ever (~2010 + ~2003), and it make me laugh. I kind of like it, i’ve plenty of ideas already to express it even more radical way in hybrids ^^

The (BB#9-2 x BB#15) is back in the main tent with her F2, his partner is composted already. Good mother, heavily seeded and coconuts everywhere. I gave her an extra for her roots, she will suffer. I’ve to play with fire in feeding her well, but not enough to worry the seeds. The scents are just fantastic, in three layers of what i love the most with the BB/SCBB/CM. She fixed what the Bilbo’s cut have broken by over-smoking sirupy cloves, let me forget the swiss BB cut of Front One in being more sugared and stop the envy to hunt the SCBB again for its gassy punch. With seeds it start to turn deep, like a moonshine of oily and glased cloves.

The additional male don’t make it unfortunately, he don’t supported the torture. He don’t turned herm, but was too weak for my taste. No recovery punch, i don’t want to start a parallel line that need to be grown like orchids. I will split the F2 instead to push in IBL.

I’m pretty sure it’s a latent herm, but for now the situation is under control. Maybe in stimulating she-he to produce sinse like hell, i can focus the priorities. Let’s dream a bit, but the scissor on the hip ready to fire.

This stupid elongated dog reserved me a surprise. She smell the hell good, “clovy” but very gassy like a SCBB that don’t understand the life. And she still identify herself as a haze :face_with_raised_eyebrow: The Shishkaberry project being unfortunately aborted, i will maybe recycle the spare pollen with this one. Can be interesting.

For the datas at this day :

  • (14 years old) Zamal x Ghanna F1 : 12 days
  • (16 years old) Skywalker F2 : 9 days
  • (15 years old) NL90 x Haze : 5 days
  • (bought 6 years ago) Sensi Star : 3 days

None cracked, none germinated. But peace on mind is here, I don’t have any more to worry about them.
I will fix the dead line at 14 days i think before burying it in the garden. At this point i think that only the Sensi Star have a little chance.

Vineyard’s gnats are back, it’s the season until late October. Fucking suckers that eat my plushy roots. I’ve even some on the computer display at the second i’m typing these words. I will not declare the war, just take some sticky trap and play a bit dryer with a secondary pot.

Big Bud closed !!! Hell yeah finally. I still don’t know what i will launch next, but i know what i will do with each one waiting in the fridge ^^

Make seeds and compete !

Impossible to throw them in the thrash bin. I’ve opened a good dozen, embryos was not looking good and definitively dryed on the radicule side, cotyledons beige white. But the peace of mind is here, next move.

The seeds sprouter is washed and will run empty 24H with bleach, the time to decide what to launch and when … still not sure. It will mostly depend on how it turn for the remaining Big Bud females, i start to push them this week and i have planned a gnat-control : sticky traps and nematodes. Just to let them make some roots in the extra pot i’ve placed lastly. To be continued …

At one point i forgot the seasonal threat here between August and October, these hellish gnats of vineyards. One little margin of error and they rush like the Huns. No Aptus Soil Attack preventive, and an hydro strain in soil with new volume of soil to feed from the top pot … it was enough to get a brutal and massive invasion.

In a previous invasion, on a transitive space that was in a large basement/garage i took the chemical way and i’ve found this cycle :
gnatscontrolCHEM

It worked but not to eradicate the one I’ve around in one month. It was pretty hardcore for the plants too, and mostly possible in veg.

So … let’s try the way of the nematodes this time. I’m too far in flowering stage to play with chems, and it’s not very effiscient anyway for the specie i’ve. Only tailored neonicotinoids work with these ones, and in a certain mesure 99% pure nicotine extract. I’ve planned a hint for the end of the process.

So let’s go with the Steinernema Feltiae, the nematodes i will use. I see often chit-chat on it but not so much the use documented, so it’s the opportunity to share my first use of them. Basically, i will just document what say the breeder like a good soldier.

Weapons ready. The nematodes are a 5 millions dose.

In the manual it’s given for 5 liters/1,32086gal of solution (what i need without saturating the 8 pot) . Or 20/25 pots (no volume indicated, it sux) or 10sqm/107,639sqft.

It’s advised to don’t let much the nematode in water or they are asphyxiated. Let’s do it the overkill-way and to use it directly after the preparation to minimize the lose of the soldiers.

First they advise to have a good level of moisture in the soil, to help the SF to crawl deep but i think also it’s good to don’t have soil tension. And to spread heavenly the army.

So i prepared already the plant the previous day with a watering (low nutes), and i started to spray generously the surface of the pot with tap water to break the surface tension.

To gain time again and to split heavenly the solution between the 8 pots, i’ve divided 5L/1,32086gal by the pots and it gave around 600ml/20.28floz. I’ve poured this amount of water in a soda bottle and just cut it to chain-watering the plants each with its respective dose.

It look like parmesan, but smell nothing. Pre-dilution in tap water at ambient temp, well stirred.
I was expecting more chunk but no it dilute well.

Poured in the 5 liters / 1,32086gal , then “tossed” vigorously. Naked eye you can see the stuff in suspension at the density of 5 millions. It’s fun.

I do it all the time, but i find it more important with this operation : letting the drain stay in the tank with heightening wedges. I use a high retention medium in the inferior pot in bonus, i prefer this prime juice wasted instead re-sucked when tension is negative again.

Not much drain in general in applying it in a moisted soil, but still penetrating a bit the soil to the bottom in pushing the old juice.

600ml/20.28floz of nematode solution per 4.5L/1gal volume of soil is a sweet spot worth to be a reminder (for fine soil).

I find this stuff interresting, less messy that just attaching them on the plants. Sadly only four tag in the box (bastards) and rope. I will adapt some tags i have for this strategy later.

The fast saturation of the gnat’s poo have already made some damage, a bit stresfull. I can’t apply a peroxyde + soil attack cure during the peak work of the soldiers, i’ve to wait at least a week damned.

By luck, my nutes have a very high assimilation and are compliant with the highest EU bio standards, i can restart them at next watering. They will be hungry, they got a weak sauce just before + the fungi of poo attacking. Damned hell, can’t wait to cut them all and to restart on another horse lol

See you around ! Feedback within two weeks on this (simple) method. Fingers crossed.

It’s J+1 after the launch of the army of nematodes, i stay nervous. For now it offer a show I’ve not experienced in previous battles with chems, a fucking calm and the plants suddenly at work again. Maybe a combination of circumstances, or the nematodes applied at the right time of the cycle.

I already know that I’ve to deal with the damages next week, i will try preserve the more vegetal mass i can. I have no clue of my margin with these nice worms, in term of nutes and after-cares. I’ve to rush the web to find reliable infos, next watering is tomorrow.

No sense, they were flying everywhere yesterday. The glue traps don’t have much more than 3 to 5 gnats.
Maybe they are busy to lay eggs to fight the army, by another army.

The (good) mom continue to work hard, brave, with crazy scents. Her life continue to amaze me.

Some buds for the fun, to show the spectrum of variations (not complaining on it at all) and also to see if next week we will make something nice with the ladies.

See you around, stay safe and green !

Well, at this point i was expecting to cull 50% of specimens. All ladies still at work.
I’ve even dried them without much tenderness to help a bit the gnats-control and … still fighting. They are suffering from the poo-fungi but the damages are limited for now, I’ve lost less leaves than expected also. The threat remain; i stay vigilant.

The nematodes look like to work, even if the cycle of the gnats is vicious by nature. The number of adult glued slightly increased until the half of the week and stopped suddenly. So i guess all the eggs are laid and i’m now in the larva sequence for 2 weeks … just the time to fattened the plants for good. So, i’m in the nematode’s feast also.

I gave them a shoot of Rootbastic to stimulate the growth of new roots and to colonize the inferior pot. Risky business, i had to juggle with amendment for each plant to avoid any storage in the floral biomass. I’m happy to come back to a general basic feeding for all, next week.

Let’s make some individual shots to compare later just before the cut.

The BB#13 was supposed to be culled fast, i resisted and finally she made it in stimulating the floral production.

The BB#12 needed support, she weight more than she look. I’m curious to see the yield stats for this one, if she really weight heavy or if it’s just water.

The BB#16 is a cousin of the #13, very NLish.

I like the #11, it’s talking to me.

But more her sexy sister the #18, same pheno.

The #19 is the most vigorous and resistant to the root’s attack of the pack, and one of the most variegated. Maybe a lucky mutation.

And the tramp #14, as hungry than thirsty … than damned tall. She seriously have problem of identity, taking herself for a haze. With her cousin the #19 i think they will need 3 weeks, i hope not much more.

I’m a bit in trouble with the #9-2. First batch female pollinated with male of the second batch … i keep her moving but the senescence is finally here at 3 months. At the first sign of weakness, i cut her. I don’t think she can do more than one week without taking risk for the seeds, if her defense fall down the fungi can attack fast and hard. Razor edge style, I grapple each day i can. The weed still amazing ^^, can’t wait to sample it.

See you around, maybe in a debate where it’s all about boiling roots to get more THC or pissing in pots to get more N. I don’t know what happens this week but it’s productive on this matter ^^

Seems you’ll have some rest with the gnats. Maybe even the nematodes will have the intended effects, they’re supposed to eat the larvas right? If so they’ve been unleashed at the right time it seems.

Lots of different phenos in these BB. Indeed #18 is beautifull. Plants looks healthy despite the hard time they got, you really treated them well.

What’s your objectives for this BB selection?

Nailed. And maybe i was enough lucky to throw them at the perfect time.

When these flying gnats disappear, you think the worst is behind but in fact the hell is coming. An army of larva, then pupa that are eating your yield like ogres.

The nematodes enter in both, by the … both ends (^^) and eat them from inside. First time i use predators and it’s a pretty good surprise with just one week for now. I think i will keep the habit.

Thanks for the kind words buddy, it’s a razor edge dance. I appreciate your consideration.

When the weed is ready to be rolled, i will post an exhaustive (and neutral) opinion on what was/is the Big Bud on three different period I’ve grown her : early 2000, 2010 and 2023. A general comparative overview, on plants and weed. But even in seeing my actual journey, you can be surprised by the conclusions i bet ^^

Sexy the #18, hey ^^ My type too. Unfortunately, the only good weed is seeded. The others phenos was rejected pretty much early.

There is no selection on this round, sadly. Just the best reproduction i can do in dodging latent herms and without making compromises on the typical weed profile hunted on this strain. Even if it was hard and made in two rounds, i was lucky. Two packs was enough to start something decent. The next steps will be more quantitative, just screening again for herms and variegations the time to heal the line. But with more seeds obviously.

I knew it will be the more ungratefully job of the seed’s stock, i was aware of the state of the line. So i started by it.

Yikes! Kinda larva’s aliens I guess  We’ll see in the coming weeks how efficient they were or if the gnats found their Ripley

Can’t wait to read that, will be interesting. Never tasted a big bud, I’ll know if I have to go back in time or not.

Right, that’s the “as many F2 seeds possible” step, forgot that.

Hard work first, then play time!

The face palm of the day : to make it a reminder and maybe a preventive warning.

I’m so used to NEVER use these vents since ages that … i just ignore them while i’m washing the space. The problem being that the whole airflow depend on it and it’s pretty much clogged ^^

Look at this shamefully “before-after”, damned. This is not a weekly maintenance i will forget again.

My weapons : a vacuum cleaner and a tooth brush. Work well and fast from the interior. When it’s done i pass my usual bleach solution and it’s like new.

Don’t forget your vents ! Specially if you’re living in a high RH area, it’s a true nest for bad worries.
