Iā€™m going to leave it overnight and see if the entire glass of water will be on the stove!

Iā€™ll be trying felt from the craft store cut into strips. Seems like the tricky part may be figuring out how much wick per how much medium.

Think too much wick will lead to an over saturated medium?

Sorry if this is derailing or off topic, can start a wick thread if thatā€™s better. Or maybe there is one. Ima check.

Edā€™s book states that for certain size diameter pots certain sizes are recommended! Love the idea of felt BTW way to think on the fly Iā€™ll bet it would work well ā€¦ as far as overwatering I donā€™t think it would happen Iā€™d think it would get to a point of equilibrium then not wick anymore . Give I go itā€™s all about experimenting and having fun I guarantee it makes keeping the entire soil profile moist with no dry spots!

Sorry if this is off topic, but I did have to say, I met him once, back in the late 80ā€™s. He was a friend of a friend, of a friend. He was a really cool dude and spent hours with us talking about weed. I wish I could remember half of what this man has forgotten about Cannabis.

BTWā€¦ A lot of what he talked about applied well to non-cannabis growing that I used for many years. Now, I just wish I could remember even some of it.

Itā€™s funny cause my buddy, who was the actual conduit to him, ended up becoming a Fed and was put on a task force to curtail illegal grows twenty some years ago. never really had his heart in it as they were always wanting to go after guys like him. Irony is a bitch.

Sorry, done with the diversion.

Iā€™m totally going to try this idea. Itā€™s ingenious! The only improvement I would make would be having 1 end of each string go along the sides and out the top of the cup, then add the medium, then trim the end of the string off even with the top of the medium. You could use a small piece of tape to hold the string in place if needed. Doing this would allow for moisture to travel more evenly into the cup which will encourage outward growth of the roots rather than just down.

@Instg8ter Acapulco Gold!! What I would do for seeds of this strain. Where did you find those? :star_struck:

Great! Glad to see others try it, yea I I snag the wicks with wire/finger whatever works and hold in place while filling once thereā€™s a bit of media in the cup it has a tendency to stay put Then I reposition if need be. Youā€™ll @Bizzy will be pleasantly surprised how evenly moist the cups media once itā€™s harvest time and you pull the entire root ball out!

Iv done it by flipping the string over the edge of the cup and holding it in place with a rubber band as well that works pretty good also.
