Marijuana vs Alcohol, roots of prohibition

This is a really good article.

This is my favorite takeaway:

“As I noted in a Boom & Bust article this spring, more people work in the marijuana industry than in all U.S. car dealerships.”

good article but somewhat painful to see alcohol & cannabis lumped together without noting the massive difference in impact on health, safety, “family violence”, etc.

In the 1920’s the US govt. (Rockefeller family & friends) implemented strict moral codes on the US population (gambling, sex, “drugs”). It’s not studied or spoken of much in public school brainwashing, I mean classes. It was their way to justify new police forces to control the labor movement and various political movements (socialist, trade unionist, anarchist, etc). The anarchists had actually tried to bomb Rockefeller’s house.

Supposedly up until this time, all of Hanover Street, the main thoroughfare in the North End of Boston, was wall-to-wall brothels for 5 or 6 blocks - every single business.

@Muleskinner,
Yes indeed. Good point
No comparison in the deleterious effects of booze vs. cannabis. Like night and day.
The writer should have mentioned this fact.

The primary culprit in fomenting the federal government’s restrictions on cannabis was the execrable Harry Anslinger!
1937 was the beginning of this exercise in stupidity.

This is a great overview:

It is amazing to read about the past. How easy it is to control so many people with just a little false information and fear.

Unfortunately this is, of course, still going on!

Occasionally the truth is exposed.

oh yeah, look at some of those early photos of Anslinger - his eyes gleam with the look of a total lunatic - serious mental illness. Must have been the idiot husband of Andrew Mellon’s family - married to Mellon’s niece.

The elite famlies love to put the dumbest kid of the family into political offices. Just look at W. Bush.
