Meanwell drivers 7 year warranty BS?

Kind of pissed. 2nd driver to fail on me in past 6 months.

I called Meanwell and they say contact vendor. Vendor says they only warranty for a year and to buy a new one. That they can take the old one but I own shipping to them and shipping from them to Meanwell and back and at the end of the day will get 50-60% of the wholesale price. Sounds like BS to me. Why would I get a prorated amount back when my warranty doesnt reset? According to their website if they fix or replace they keep your same serial number and warranty period.

So in the end spend $30 in shipping to get maybe $30 back on the driver.

At the end of the day spend your money at places with good customer care. HLG sent me a new ballast and tracking number the next day. No questions asked.

IF you do end up sending it back to them, insist on seeing the failure analysis report.
They will take you somewhat more seriously (relatively speaking )

Who’d you buy it from? I tend to get mine from digi-key, but haven’t had any fail on me yet :crossed_fingers:

Was part of my solstrip build so I got from Baudelaire. Wont ever do business again. Figured id support an OG member. I know the ballast failure isnt his fault. But pretty piss poor response which is his fault. Was basically a list of reasons why I should just buy a new one. And that he would be happy to be the one selling it. No thanks. Do I sound like I was born yesterday.

Wasnt even a huge savings from HLG. Oh well. Lesson learned. Already ordered a new ballast for $80 then deal with the headache

Night and day customer care. I emailed HLG 11PM and told them about my issue and gave them my order number. Woke up to a tracking number. No back and forth. Nothing.

Have 10 year old original Phantom ballasts still running.
