Bummer to hear about budrot, they are gorgeous plants!
Is it mostly the rain that causes the budrot issues? Here I’ve never seen budrot without caterpillars, but we don’t have an issue with the rain so much - if anything we don’t get enough rain. I guess it could be a chicken-or-the-egg thing, BT won’t work if it rains everyday.
It’s a combination of things humidity related. For my spot in particular I don’t get any direct sunlight on my plants until around 10 am. So cool temperatures at night this time of year create dew that doesn’t evaporate until mid day if it stays cool. It’s best to plant where you get early morning sun. This also helps with combating early frosts as well. And of course the rain is always a problem especially if it rains later in the day and doesn’t get to dry before nighttime. If I had a greenhouse I could beat these problems by raising the temperature inside thus lowering the dew point. Or I could try to induce flowering a couple weeks earlier by light deprivation but that is a lot of work and with my schedule I am unable to do this. So I just live with it. I grow indoors as well. Outdoors is more or less for the fun of it so I don’t get too frustrated about it. @FieldEffect
Oh yeah @FieldEffect the caterpillars do cause issues too. But I spray BT and don’t have that problem. I seen one this year total. And this was 4 weeks ago. That’s when I started spraying for it as well. Maybe I should start earlier in the year but I don’t think it would make a difference. We had a gypsy moth problem in my area last year so this year my area earlier in the spring got crop dusted with Bt by helicopter. I watched it as they flew and sprayed directly over my house. And it did impact the caterpillars. I normally see more than just one
Here’s the divine gelato at the neighbors. No bud rot on them yet. Weird. I chopped mine down over a week ago. These were selectively pollinated with a skunk x hawaiian.
Here’s a few pics from the garden today. Flo white widow B is really coming along nice. Definitely earlier finisher than Flo x white widow A and leans widow
Thanks everyone for checking this out. I know I am not much of a writer and kinda new to this journal stuff. But I appreciate all who have chimed in and shared some love. Super busy lately with life at the moment. Not too mention the Temple Flo seed run. Man that sure keeps me busy trying to make it perfect. Happy Choptober.
Last 3 strains standing Flo, Flo x white widow A and chemdog. They have been hit with frost twice now. Still alive and has been nice and dry as of late. Have rain coming midweek. They will be getting the axe if it does in fact rain enough.
Pics in order of above text.
WOW that’s pretty and yummy looking lol but seriously I can’t wait for the smoke report and again you’re absolutely killing it @Kavman and I can say that I couldn’t of gotten the results that you are getting so thanks for letting us be a part of this and I just can’t stop looking at thosr colors!
Looks great man! Fellow Michigan gardener here. I’m hoping the rain is minor. Or better yet, doesn’t happen. I have the same forecast and a lot of plants still chugging.
And it smells so good under here. Just trying to buy as much time as I can. Just hoping it doesn’t get too windy. Storm is coming up from Chicago direction.
Great outdoor grow this year my blues brother. Looking forward to sampling the 97 flo! We will have to sesh out with your outdoor flo and my od f13. I still can’t post on the temple flo thread yet. Hopefully I will get it figured out soon.
That we will. I am just finishing up in the Temple room now. I will be posting some pictures in a bit. That stinks about that thread thing.
Here’s one of those temple
