An old soldering iron is your friend for makin robust holes and plastic wielding , turns it all fun , but do it outside due to smell : )
Is clay pebbles a good choice for a wick ?
I would be more inclined to line them net pots with weed control fabric and use promix and perlite mix like the other octopoters

Soldering iron exactly what I need 
One of the possibilities is to use a container with net pot, lined from the inside with this mesh and filled with soil perlite mix.
The option with a plastic cup is there because it can reach the bottom of the pool, and the container/net pot is 4 cm above the bottom.
What would you use? Ofcorse if itās done well

I would look in my recycle house bin for a soda Bottle cut top of it and put millions of tiny holes in it with soldering iron : )
I would also do this in work so as to use their electric haha and get paid to do it
I think I spent next to nothing.
But itās not so much about the money. I would buy a lot of it, but there is none.
