what’s mother nature gonna cheek clap me with? First outdoor grow in this climate
Can you be more specific with your questions…
What we do up north is cover them with something so they don’t get frost. they should survive even a light frost. It will slow growth, but they will live.
i don´t think, you have to worry bout frost in TX
Like should I preveg and how does the climate mess with the plants
Also I’m probably gonna plant it into the ground
you´re south enuff to sow directly into the ground but preveg would not harm.
Ya preveg is always a good idea so they’re a bit more hardy when they get out in the elements.
Also what genetics would fare the best overall
Hso seems pretty badass but I’ve always stuck to bc
I was thinking some gorrilla breath and some the big
Maybe some haze type shit but I dont think any real hazes would make it out here
at 36° better run some Sativa dom Strains…but at that Lat almost every type of Genetics should bring good results.
Planning on running 15-30 plants in the ground gruella, praying a chupacabra dosent get to it before the budrot sets in but no I’m new to og and plan on doing this run with 3 main goals. 1 to complete all the way to harvest and scatter seeds operation overgrow style, 2 document everything and see if I catch some of the crazy shit and 3 pass the rest of the seeds around here up here in og. Shout out to @Pedro_Bann for the triple badass setup hes got running, I’ll be using something similar. Might do autos also. But imma start preveg soon so I figured I’d start this.
Assuming I am correct in thinking that you are in TX at around 36 degrees latitude area.
Then you should put your plants in the ground after the last expected frost date, which is in the 1st week of April or so.
If you are going to use some autos then they should be started not more than 3 to 4 weeks before planting them in ground.
Photos you can start soon, they will have some time to get plenty big between now and early April.
I grew a nice outdoor crop in Katy TX (latitude 29.7) several years ago. It was crazy hot that summer, but I had only a little bit of bud rot there, easy compared to the NE US, which can be
brutal with PM and bud rot.
You can check your last frost date here
Appreciate that and I used to live in cypress. man I really miss it but glad I’m out in a more urban area now. I’m gonna be posting pics soon of the preveg and supplies etc.
Also I should prob mention I’m going for the 4-5 lb plants cured… I should be able to but what would be the best way to do this gruella? If anyone’s tried some suicidal type shit like this I’d like to hear advice👍🏿 thanks yall
You going for that kaligrownbudz type of harvest huh?.. what’s up man I’m in N. Texas, gonna be hard to do here and I see why your doing it gorilla … as previously stated. Better to transplant them outside around April… for frost i usually keep them indoors until they look stable enough to handle the outdoor weather (at least 3-4weeks) and I keep a close eye on the weather. We get crazy ass weather here in TX. Mornings can be in the 30’s and by the time afternoon hits it’s 70 degrees plus… Frost, hail, tornado 1 day the next 90 + degrees … the days you see a frost coming in bring the plants in, if you can’t bring them in then set up a make shift greenhouse to help with them hold in as much heat as possible…
one thing I will say tho if you plan to do outdoor here in Texas make sure to water every 2-3 days when we start getting into the summer months… anyways let me know if you need anything & good luck this season growmie!
Crazy I was actually thinking how Houston and the surrounding areas would be ideal for outdoor cannabis since the weather is very tropical.
I only grew one outdoor crop in TX. And boy howdy was it ever hot!
It was in Katy, in 3 gallon containers. Now I had become quite familiar with the heat in SoFla, growing outdoors year round down there for quite some time. SoFla is hot in summer, every day being 90 to 95 degrees for long stretches of time. But the Houston TX area was much hotter. 103 to 108F for significant stretches of days. And Houston is just as humid …yuck!
It was so hot that the tomatoes I was growing alongside the reefer stopped setting fruit entirely.
I grew Mandala’s Satori and Far Out, and I had very few problems with the plants, even with the insane heat.
Now these plants were moved indoors for the flower cycle. Each evening into dark room with air conditioning, back out in the AM.
Houston has possible frost from early December to the last week of February, so year round outdoor growing is probably not viable, as it is in SoFla.
Anyway good luck, have fun!
