MoBillys Forevermore Green Room Thread (Part 2)

I used raised beds along some ‘in ground’ the last few years of growing our household veggies. Love em! We discussed maybe a couple here for odds n ends, but naw. It’d just be that much more on Rose and she said her plate is full. I believe her!

Now we buy as much as we can from the local 4H n FFA, and freeze em. lol They take pride in their organic crops! We love to grab as much as the chest deep freezer will hold! Lasts quite a while, so we’re good to go.

So, Mr. Potseed, How do I go about treating my composted material before filling my bags for growing inside?
There’s a lot in that pile that I DON’T want in the grow room.

you gotta mix it with good garden grade soil, some perlite in there also. then fork-mix it over a period of a couple months at least.
I made garden soil by mixing compost and high grade top soil.
Use everything from the kitchen, except meat products.

I get that part but what about any pathogens, bad bugs, mold spores…

When you put in amendments, you treat it with good non-harmful stuff that fights those things.
There are so many different things out there you can get. It’s up to you which you use, just check on Amazon and other places for what you want to try. We’ve used so many different things over the years ourself, lol

You mean like a Safers Soap drench? I can do that easy enough. I’ve just never brought that inside before. I envisioned every sort of bug critter crawling up out of that stuff.
I know the heat from composting takes care of a lot but not all of the eggs are destroyed in the process.

A good botanical disinfectant. lotta brands out there
Key also is maintaining a good mix of greens and browns. They say 4 to 1

A little tip on what seeds you want to use! I would pick something Sativa dominant if I were you. Any bud I have tried here that gets dense gets mold on it. And I know you are in a similar zone as me so it won’t be that much different for you.
Be ready to have a fungicide spray on hand just in case.

Put some hydrated lime mixed in with your soil. Dry sawdust is also a good additive to use. As far as trying to actually kill bugs you could spray with neem oil when mixing up the soil. If it were summer I would tell you to cover your pile with black plastic and try to heat it up but it’s the wrong season for that.

@Oldjoints ,
Speaking of mold, here’s a couple of pictures of the plants that I brought in. I thought, when I saw this I’d had the light turned up too much, but this is bud rot. Yes?

What do you think @JohnnyPotseed ?

Definitely bud rot unfortunately.
You can use it for tincture

Oh well. It’s pretty close to finishing I’ll cut the bad out and see if I can keep her going for another week or so… If it continues to progress I’ll harvest it right quick.

Mild beach sprayed on stem of infected area will kill spores that could still be there.
You could use alcohol also
