Lineup shot. Day 42F
Good job,your girls look great
Day 50 from flip and some of these plants look nearly done! There’s swollen bracts and retracted hairs at the tops of 3 of these plants already. Trichs are mostly cloudy, some clear and some amber right at the top, but down a few inches and they’re cloudy/clear, so I have a week or more for those. I was expecting day 70 chop for these but I might have a few chopped before 60!
Smells are about the same, a bit of a sour funk on most, like taurine. Some get a little grassier and lemony while 2 of them have an almost offensive aspect to the smell which I’m really intrigued by.
I’ll upload pics of everyone tomorrow when I get some time!
A couple shots from today. Day 51F
#4
#5
#9
#4 is so much bulkier than all of the others with this one fat cola all the way down. The other plants don’t quite have the same mass. 5 and 9 are the quicker ones, I think they’ve got 2 weeks max left. They smell similar, like taurine, but #5 is far more pungent.
And a few more from day 51F
#1
This one is the shortest and bushiest of the bunch, but she also got knocked the fuck up with seeds. Way more than I had anticipated, and I think a lot of the bud structure is masked with the seed density. She doesn’t have a whole lot of a smell to her though, lemongrass of sorts.
#6
Another one that got a little too loaded with seeds, as seen with the exposed seed growing on the top of the bud. This plant grew very similar to #5 in veg and flower, and she’s got that sour taurine smell to her, though it’s coupled with something else that sweetens it a little bit.
Day 56 from flip, 8 whole weeks! Some of these plants are looking really close to being done. I’m thinking I’ll harvest the main buds and leave the lower seeded branches to mature more so I get as many ripe seeds as possible.
Smells haven’t really changed much on any of the plants. The stinky ones are still stinky, and the not-so-stinky ones are still mild smelling. I’m inclined to like the sour gross smelling ones more cuz I like weird smells, but the proof is in the jar 3 months after harvest.
I have more clones of each plant rooting now and I’ll most likely do another run of these very soon. Might even be as soon as this cabinet opens back up, might be in my other cabinet in a month or so. Either way it’s gonna be a strictly seedless run, no boys allowed! After 2 cycles I feel like I’ll know which plants are worth keeping around. I honestly don’t want more than one keeper so I get to be picky!
Pics will come later today, gonna do another weekly photo shoot.
Well I flopped on my promise for pics, couldn’t get the time to take good shots, a few things came up this week. But maybe today will be the day.
Day 59 and a few of these plants are pretty much done! I could harvest them at any point, but I might want to wait til monday to let trichs mature a bit more. Seed check is coming back good, so there’s plenty of healthy mature seeds in these plants.
Pics of my early finishers, 5 and 9. 5 is a taller plant with a lot of that sour smell. 9 is shorter and the smell is a little bit more subtle, i guess musky? Yield on both of these plants seems mediocre, there wasn’t a lot of thick bud development, but what is there is definitely dense and very nicely formed.
5
9
I’m at basically a coin toss with chopping 5 tonight or not. 9 isn’t quite there, a few too many clear trichomes, but 5 is in the harvest window… decisions decisions
And here’s my first pick for keeper, number 4. Just one giant beefy bud that’s bigger and denser than all the other plants. Smell is similar to 9, musky, earthy, but not super loud. The bud size, low odor, and low stretch really makes this a pick for small spaces. Still needs a week to go, maybe, but even somewhere around 65 days is quick to me.
Day 63, chop day for 2 of the plants! #5 and #9 came down. I left the branches that were specifically pollinated to grow for a few more days, guarantee fully mature seeds there.
#5
#9
I might harvest some more tomorrow, they’re all in the window for sure.
Did another trich check this morning, and everyone else is gonna get the chop today! 9 weeks from flip, that’s pretty good! I think a lot of people would have told me to harvest a week ago, but I like to have things finish a little longer, get some of that sedative effect from the amber trichomes.
And everyone is harvested! I left a few seeded branches on the plants to ensure they’re finished up, but the top branches of every plant are now chopped!
Everyone in the packed out dry bin
A few select tops
plant #4
At scale everything smells real skunky and greasy. Some have a little bit of a sour apple or green cut grass smell. A few get pretty sour like a diesel though. I always do my best to just grab stems and undersides of leaves, but even then my fingers get extremely sticky, so I tend to not take many pics when I harvest. My phone doesn’t work well when it’s covered in resin
The plants I harvested yesterday have lost a good amount of mass already. I’m thinking I’ll probably get somewhere between 7 and 10 grams from each plant in this bin.
I’ll keep reporting back on this thread with their dry and cure. I have backup of everyone with new cuts rooting, so soon enough I’ll be posting another flower run and I’ll decide which one is my keeper! Stage 1 of the nano pheno hunt is complete
Nice harvest! Congrats dude. Those look really awesome.
From here all look very similar. Do you think it will be tough to make a selection or is there one that really stands out to you?
Oh yeah they’re all very similar so this will be a little difficult. Most of the differences are smell and some stretch. Plant #4 is my pick so far since it has a much larger main cola that’s dense and doesn’t stretch very much. But #5 and #6 have that sour diesel and redbull smell to them that’s just oh so pleasing, whereas #4 has a more subtle musky aroma. I think ultimately itll be like any other pheno hunt: the smoke
Day 71 and I chopped all the seeded buds left on each plant! The stink is different a week later, a bit stronger. I think that’s also because I trimmed a lot of leaves and stuff off of these buds and that released a lot of aromas. Trying to get all the seeds dried as quickly as possible.
Top buds are one week into dry and they look and smell really nice! #4 is definitely the fattest bud still, but a few others look really good too.
Found an unopened pollen sack on #5 while looking at the buds. That means that she threw pollen sacks twice this grow! That’s a big no-no. I’m not sure I want to keep that one around because of that…
About 2 weeks after harvest now, so here’s a few pics of some drying buds. Trichome development looks great on all the plants and I think they all look incredibly similar. This line is very consistent, so picking a favorite keeper is gonna be a not-so-obvious choice, it’s gonna come down to smoke test I think, at least between 3 of them.
Smells are all fairly subtle and similar to how they smelled while flowering. Some earthy smells, some sour and chem smells, and as they dry there’s a little bit of an orange zest that comes out of a few buds, I’m interested to see if that carries through. Small sample smokes of the lower buds have come to be pretty good, definitely a strong smoke with a heavy body high effect to it.
