New LED growlight build

So far it’s working the way I like it. I use the max schedule events of 8, 4 on events each followed by an off event 20 minutes later. That gets my plants fed 4 times per day and only when the lights are on. I’m growing in coco chips in cloth pots so they drain well.

Me too :frowning: !!!

I’ve never had that, but I usually use a surfactant (aloe or yucca) for that reason.

Interesting. That had not occurred to me.

On a related subject - what is your idea of the best time to do a foliar spray?

I have read some conflicting recommendations. A few of them said that foliar absorption stops a few minutes after lights out, so I have been trying to do it just at lights out - both to prevent the burning and to allow some time for absorption.

I always spray right at lights out because the neem degrades in the light. But I don’t feed foliar, just IPM. Though I guess the silica and aloe do provide “nutrients”.

I can’t remember when lights out happens, can somebody tell me…

@2RedEyes

I happen to be hopefully building a setup a bit like yours. Only using a 12awg 18x26x2 roasting pan as a reflector/heatsink for my 5 strips. I’m prepared later for adding additional extruded heatsinks.

I already have an Hlg-185h-24a driver. And seen you’ve pushed it to 240w (Holy S**t BTW) w/ the strips.

Question being: Could I push that driver hard during bloom like that? It’s remotely located FYI. I realize it’s the max recommendation for the strips.

Thanks for sharing. It really helps us little guys out

I have mine backed off now to about 185 watts and it’s working for my just sprouted plants. I run it about a foot above and may juice it up a little more as they get bigger.

Meanwells can be driven as hard as they will adjust up to. If your 185 will hit 240w, it’s fine imo  My little 320 maxes out at right around 350w but I keep it at 320w for strip efficiency sake.

What do you suppose is the cause of these little white spots around this girl? You may have to zoom in to see them…

High humidity? (transpiration stress)

Is the white stuff tacky? Could be excess sugars transpiring. High humidity and heat as well?

Any leftovers from spraying?

Are you spraying under the light, or setting the plants under the light with lots of water on the leaves. Looks a little like a burn, light or maybe nute drips.

I got to say, I am even more concerned about the leaf color and condition. The yellowing isn’t great and the wilting won’t get better on its own. Plant looks like its having some root issues.

Temp?
Humidity?
Soil pH
NPK?

You are in a hydro?? Can’t help here.

It’s inside a space bucket. The humidity is probably high since the res is right underneath. The feeding is done via a small pump into a piece of 1/4” soaker hose around the plant at the surface of the medium, which is coco chips. I’m going to change the nute solution (MegaCrop) and I’m thinking I will increase its ppm while maybe cutting back on the cycles. Currently I’m doing 4 half hour cycles during lights on. The soaker just drips so nothing much is splashing up onto the plant. I did defoliate a bit this morning to open it up a bit. It’s an autoflower and I’m seeing some preflowers taking shape.

Well we need some measurments. It would be the Best now. What ppm /Ec are you feeding? How high humidity. What water pH in and out? Those are the numbers which help to solved problem in Coco chips  So we need to Find out whats wrong to deal with it and keep you plant alive

But for me it looks like bad pH and too high Ec tap water on its own…

My tap water is 39 ppm, I’m feeding 740 ppm (MegaCrop), it is a recycle system and the ph is stable at 5.5-6.0. What I feed it is what I get out for ph. Temperature currently is 76 deg. RH currently at 61% but I’m sure that fluctuates as feeding and drain takes place. Currently the pump is off. That’s about all I can come up with but I did discover that the white stuff rubs off with your fingers so I’m sure it’s just some kind of splash coverage. Perhaps I did it myself fiddling about… Well, overall it seems that the plant is a little slow and not as robust as I’d like so I continue the battle… I did defoliate a bit this morning and that may deepen the funk, we’ll see.
