Hey guys, the power the goes out somewhat seldomly where i live, is there a way to hook up an emergency light to make sure if the power goes out they will still have their light (maybe not as much obviously), but they won’t turn hermies… The only thing is that this lamps automatically turn on when the power goes out, so a timer will not do! And i dont want it turning on during the night cycle even if the power goes out! How do i do?
Maybe a photocell…!? Or is it not that big of a deal?
I try to stay awake as much as possible and hope everything goes well when not there. As long as your timer has battery backup so it doesn’t change your schedule it is alright. “Most” of the time as long as your daylight doesn’t go over twelve you are OK.
Pretty much. Backup would be optimal but not necessary. It is more important to check the grow at lights on and off to make sure everything is good. If you are awake and notice the lights are off you can still add lanterns, i do.
Oh yeah! Man! And this is why precisely i ask question around, the human brain is amazing, knowing that; i didn’t think about it. The lamp is expensive, might as well take care of it yes. Thanks @Illegal_Smile
How long will that last? They are temporary i thought. My wife’s will run a computer for about fifteen minutes, long enough to save and shutdown. If you can run a light for hours then that will be the way to go.
I don’t know how long it will last. You are above my pay grade with this stuff. For the most safety i assume you would use this to transition to a generator but i don’t use one so i would research.
mine was old school it would power my pentium , crt and perfs for like 2 hours but I would think that if some LCDs or even cfls were used it would fill the gap for much longer… never had a problem powering my old cfl garden light whan I used it for that anyway.
Actually when i commented on that i hadn’t thought about the UPS, so now no photocell. Just the UPS, and that will protect my lamp and at the same time keep it running, you know while the power comes back on or something. @ryasco you are right; the power always comes back on after a while. Thanks @Illegal_Smile.
Plus the A/C in the bedroom stops running, i immediately wake up!
I see what you’re saying. My lamp will consume 685w according to the manufacturer’s specs, so yes, it would drain the battery quite fast, so in that case, it would be better to just run a couple of led bars, cheap ones. with a couple of batteries and a photocell inside the tent, they will light up if the power goes out, but only if its during the allowed timeframe in the timer program. Hmmm. Am I explaining myself, i mean does this make any sense?
Or is this too much trouble and unnecessary spending. If the plants are neglected light for say two or three times during the day cycle for maybe two hours, how will that affect the sex and/or performance?
Everything matters but the amount of yield from a couple of hours is very little. If it happens several times it gets worse. Where i live we only get one or two outages a year so it isn’t worth worrying about. They are back on pretty quick. With you it sounds worse.
Last time power went out @ryasco, it didn;t come back for 5 hours, it started at 10pm and ended at 3am, when it came back. It’s happened two or three times but not for that long (we get thunderstorms) and i dunno, just trying to avoid problems in the future. Is it necessary?
