Powers out because of Helene need advice

Hey guys my powers been out for two days now , and I’m just wondering what should I do with my current plants?

They are not finished but of course will die eventually if these lights don’t get turned back on.
They are already confused and I’m worried about weird issues if the lights came back on tonight ( doubt )

My humidity it starting to seem unsafe and I’m wondering if I should cut my losses and chop what I got.

@BeTheLight . The lights being off wont hurt them. They are just having a long night. Humidity levels might cause problems. Im sure someone else here has had similar problems and will offer advice. Peace brother. :v::grin::+1:

i dont see netting in the photo humidity will be a prob they seem packed tight (no wasted space in your tent nice) can you take them outside carry them out into the sun as i bet you are only getting around 12 or 13 hours of sun any ways.

No can do here. I do have netting as well lol but yeah absolutely cannot go outside with these , long night it is then haha.

To be fair Im day 60-61 into flowering… so if I had to chop it wouldn’t be too too early , but I don’t think they have swelled yet

How far along are they? I might chop part of the grow and dry that then see if you can recover the rest after the power comes on whenever that is

Days in flower means nothing, from the pic’s you’re 3 weeks from finish

Well if you’ve grown that specific cultivar before it certainly helps to know how many days but yeah in general the plant always tells you. Regardless if you think power is going to be out for a couple more days I would go ahead and chop some of it can’t hurt. Then salvage what you can otherwise you’re risking the whole damn crop by waiting especially with humidity issues.

I’ve left plants in the dark for 4 days due to power being out in the winter. No issues.

Humidity is the main Issue. Humidity in the microclimate at the leaf surface is always 100% and, needs air movement to help keep the humidity down so the buds don’t rot… a rechargeable fan like Jetdro had would be really handy right now, if it were already charged
Sorry about the outage, I hope it all works out.

As-for chopping early: If the trichomes are cloudy, they are ready. The product won’t be as high yielding nor as body-heavy as a couple more weeks and some amber trich’s would make it, but it is ready…many commercial grow ops, and older european growers, cut at week 8 or 9 so, youll still have some good weed to smoke… if it starts to rot, you could lose it all really quickly

If you can put them near a window inside the smallest bit of light will allow photosynthesis to occur. I have a bunch of smaller led lights that run on AA batteries I’ve had to use them a few times during outages and it’s kept them from getting wonky in veg at about $15 dollars in batteries a day :unamused:

Yeah man power outage is one thing but lack of environmental control and humidity will destroy a late blooming crop within hours days if you’re lucky. Unless you know it’s coming back on tomorrow I would probably chop most of it.

I have had the same issues. We did last time and we tried to keep plants but just got too hot for too many days. We didn’t loose power this time and we are now thinking hard about a Generac generator. The guy across the street just got one and when it kicks in my plants get jealous.

Yep that’s what I was thinking, I’m at work, so I can’t do anything right now, was definitely hoping to chop most tonight , or chop in a way that exposes them to allot more air.

Right on, hoping for the best ! Will probably chop most tonight

Good luck man plants look good and had that issue a few years ago with cold weather knocking out power for a while so chopped early. Not ideal but we have to do what we have to do

Keep us tuned and stay safe out there as best you can! I feel like I would asses if the HVAC stuff had any chance — if not, I’d chop — but that might also have the effect of a cigarette being lit while waiting for the bus, thus triggering the nonexistent bus to round the corner immediately. Good luck!!!

High humidity wouldn’t be my 1st choice but ime its not really problematic if the plants are healthy, healthy plants can fight mould and mildew, that’s normal humidity in my tent

Its nearing a decade since I seen rot and ive never had to deal with wpm.

I’ve left plants for days in darkness without any ill effects.

Take care

Just a thought but if you had the space you could just get them out into the house. That would give the room to breathe anyway.

Or even just take the cover off the tent as much as possible if they are into the netting.

That might create light issues, but if you can keep the room dark, it’d be at least more airflow than a cramped tent.
