***No Till Or Die Trying (3x3 and 2x4 living soil beds)***

It only would be a slight problem if I vegged the plants too long. Their is around 70 gallons of soil in their so they will have enough space to ride out till harvest easily.

(Added note)

The front 2 plants (mainly front left) in the 3x3 bed were still having issues from their overwatering issue when they were very young. One thing that helped kick them out of it was some tea I made. The tea was: ground up malted barley, kelp meal, aloe leaf powder (all bubbled for 4-4.5 hours) then added in some rootwise and rootwise enzyme and sprayed it into the whole bed.
It was an emotional rollercoaster as the front left plant looked happy, then later than night looked massively over watered and then finally perked up over the next few days.
(Note to self… STOP messing shit up so recovery is not in the picture anymore!)

Man I just found this thread and I am strapped in tight and along for this ride. You are literally doing all the stuff I want to get to my friend from the beds down to the sprayer!! Tell me again how awesome that thing is…

@bassman5420 Looking good! I am looking into using root wise and mammoth P so cheers! I’m super excited to see how those beds do stuffed into the tent! :green_heart::green_heart::popcorn:

There was a study/experiment done actually about that! They found that plants in a bed with other plants produced more even with less soil… Apparently fungal colony’s and other bacteria can share information about living conditions for miles too! So I assume multiple plants exudates is beneficial when in the same soil. Probably more so for the same cultivar. The microbes/fungi will carry nutrients from plant to plant to help with the ecosystem. Same type cultivars would produce similar exudates, attracting the same type bacteria for plant health.

Wooo buddy this sprayer rocks lol. I was actually busy getting it ready to use. Have it loaded up with some Doctor Zymes and Quillaja Saponaria Extract for a little bit of IPM spray. :+1:

Looking good dude. How many plants are going in the 2x4?
Keep killing it. :star_struck:

I may put 4 in there as well and flip them to flower pretty fast depending on how they start to recover (still working through the batch of hurt plants). May do 3 though since one of the plants I will put in there is getting a bit taller than I would like and needs tied way down.

I cant wait I will be following your lead. Soon very soon. :green_heart:

I’m about to hit my garden with the good Dr. Zymes tonight myself!

The cover crop is coming in nicely, in the 2x4 bed/tent. The barley straw mushroom log I used to mulch with was so moist, fungal rich and breaking down, making it a pain in the ass to use how I wanted. After letting it sit and dry on top a little while the cover crop sprouted, I pulled it up in chunks and I was able to just rub it together into a finer mulch. I ended up doing that with the whole straw layer and it all sat nicely in between the sprouts instead of making mats on top that the sprouts were pushing up.

How bad was it getting the beds to fit!? Nice job with the mulch too. Those logs look funky after a while eh?

Ya the log I had got was loaded with fungus when I received it in the mail and that was months ago lol. A few more mushrooms are growing out the side of the bag in a different spot than the others I harvested off. Cant belive its still giving mushrooms, but I will keep it around till I cant anymore. There is some Trichoderma starting to grow on the log in some spots as well it seems. I will most likely do a little more mulch in the beds when they flip to flower, to passively water in some fungal inoculant (and I will need to be using it up by then I assume, we shall see).

The 3x3 bed fit easy into the 4x4 tent, but the 2x4 bed into the 2x4 tent was tight heh. I had to get it in there at a little bit of an angle and then flatten it out. But it fit!

Dude that looks glove tight!! This is gonna be really cool to watch go off. I feel like that size bed is more realistic for folks with smaller or more limited space. I was this close to gettin a custom bed from honor cannabis on Etsy to fit in my 2x2.5 tent but I chickened out and bought some 5 gals instead :joy::joy::joy:

Lol ya it is quite the undertaking for sure, easy to get cold feet. I was unsure about doing the 2x4 bed in the 2x4 tent, but I figure I will just make some custom tent spreaders to make a little more room and allow some more airflow. We shall see now the beds go, I am dedicating to having these in the same spot for 2 years if all goes well.

I fuckin love it man, I wanna see you absolutely crush these things to motivate myself to follow suit.

Lets hope so! Hopefully the next cycle in the beds, will start with healthier plants being put into the beds lol. The 3x3 is having a little problem with the plants recovering at different speeds, so the back 2 are outgrowing the front 2.

I was thinking about space for a dehu in the 2x4 is next to impossible without a hanger to hold a small one. Looking forward to this bro! :green_heart:

Usually I have issues keeping the humidity up, so I may get a reptile fogger/humidifier since they have a hose I can plumb through a vent on the bottom and zip tie it to the inner side of the bed so a fan can blow it around.
I am trying to set up some environmental automation so that the exhaust fans and humidifiers will actually be controlled by something other then me lol. So I could set it to exhaust more if the humidity gets too high etc. I will just have to adapt with whatever hurdles come at me.
It will take me a bit to learn and program the automation how I need it though.

Same boat man, low humidity and cold temps in the basement. Good for flower but building out one of these to pipe into the veg tent:

Aah very nice, I was thinking about the same thing for a bit till I started looking at some environmental control to try out. I was not sure if 1 of the ultrasonic things would be enough or would have to get the expensive bigger bars of them I see other people use to build them with. It would be nice to DIY one so you could make what ever shaped humidifier you needed (since there is very little room in my 4x4 tent with the 3x3 bed in there even though I moved the bed towards the back a little bit.)
