Hello Everyone!
Well, I was hoping to see someone else make this thread and set it up, but as they say… ‘if you want something done…’ So here I am setting up the first stages of what I hope will be an awesome solo cup challenge for the sole purpose of having FUN. And of course everyone likes to win something too, so I think I’ve devised a solid enough plan for the challenge with a nice prize to the big guns of the show considering everyone plays nicely. - Also, @LemonadeJoe if you see anything you have issues with here, please let me know and we can adjust accordingly!
So here’s the ground rules I came up with that I think should work good in theory but we can totally fine tune before we start the game. I’ll start with the basic concept.
-
Anyone can join the solo cup challenge, but your price of admission is a 10 pack of seeds out of your stash donated to the virtual “pool” - Each person entering must be able to take a picture of the final weight and post it for everyone, so if you don’t own a scale, either get one now or don’t enter then challenge. The winner of the challenge takes the whole pool in the end and each person who entered the challenge sends their 10 pack to the winner on their own time/dime. Sound good? Okay! The pool will be virtual, so this can only work off good faith, so let’s make sure we keep it real and everyone plays nice and fair. If you don’t have anything to donate, you can still play the solo cup challenge but you obviously don’t win anything if you kick everyone’s ass on yield. And even in the worst case scenario of people flaking out on the payout, no one really looses anything and you had some fun and maybe learned something more about growing.

Everyone chooses a single seed from their stash - Your choice - Whatever you think is going to be the biggest yielder and blow the doors off your competition. Time limit is 75 days to harvest your plant from our 12/12 flip, so choose a strain that can meet those requirements… This is a challenge of who can yield the most in a solo cup from seed. So bring your ‘A’ game yeilder strains to this challenge because you must post a picture of your dry untrimmed weight as your final score to win. (some people don’t like to trim, so this seems more fair for everyone)
-
Everyone uses a 16oz solo cup for your “pot” - You are free to make contraptions that hold it up so it doesn’t fall over, but the plant must be growing in a standard 16oz sized solo cup. Basically you can do whatever you want with your plant, as long as you do it in a 16oz solo cup. You are free to drill holes in the bottom for drainage, but no other additional modifications to your solo cup are allowed.
-
If your plant dies before you harvest you are out of the challenge obviously, but you still have to pay out to the winner in the end. If your plant turns out to be a male you are out of the challenge as well, but you still pay out to the winner just the same.

I will select the day we all pop our seeds and the day we flip our seeds so that we all maintain roughly the same schedule. Again, time limit is 75 days to harvest your plant from 12/12 flip, so pick a strain that is suitable for that requirement. The challenge ends when the last person standing harvests and takes a picture of their dry untrimmed weight - unless its clearly obvious that he/she will not be winning. We will play it by ear/eye.
I think that covers most it and if I forgot anything important, we can tighten up any loose ends if need be in this thread here. I will start another thread for the actual challenge itself once we have all the players on board and we’ve all agreed on the rules, so I guess that leaves us with a sign up list.
If you want to signup to the solo cup challenge and you’ve read and agree with all the rules, you have until January 3rd (2 weeks from now) to add your name and what 10 pack you are donating to the pool in this thread… I’ll edit this thread and add names as they come through. I’ll go ahead and put myself down and my donation to get things started.
YES, the game is challenging and you can be knocked out of the game very easily without any wrong doing of your own, but the reward is HIGH if you got luck on your side! Let’s do it big guys!
