the middle joint is a T that goes straight down to the pump. (probably obvious to you all but just in case)
That’s a good looking setup. I can see why you might question the volume and velocity of water that’s getting pushed through your system. Your pipes are much larger (inside diameter), and you have more of it (total length) and 6 more spray nozzles, and our pumps are probably similarly sized.
One thing you should keep in mind when you look at the spray of my setup: that GIF is misleading. 5 seconds after turning on the pump to test my setup, the entire perimeter of the ground under the bucket was soaked. But as long as you get even distribution of the spray across the top of your tub, you should be fine.
Another thing I like about my bucket and that gasket (seal) inside the lid, it makes it watertight. No extra precautions required.
Nice DIY cloner write-up @Purple-N-Hairy! You definitely took the guess work out of the equation.
thnx, i do get a ton of spray with the 200GPH but i think im gonna go ahead and see what the 300GPH pump does after work today like i was originally thinking, especially if your vid is misleading on the flow and fineness of your spray.
i’ll slap a couple of comparison pics on here to get your input.
Thanks @Tejas! I’ve made a few of them, so it’s practically 2nd nature for me.
@CornbreadJunior, if you discover the bigger pump isn’t necessary, you can use it in a larger tote used for veg. I made a much larger version (50 gal) for veg-ing the clones and seedlings I take out of the bucket, and it works pretty well, too.
Day 1 in the tub:
Day 14 in the tub:
For that tub, I use a considerably more powerful pump…
good idea - looks nice!!
here is the 200gph in action…
and the 300gph…
i was still expecting a finer spray. but im kinda anal.
@Purple-N-Hairy - both will work or is the 200 not enough?
this is my first cloner purchased or made. i got tired of my crappy success rate producing clones and i am hoping this will help.
Awesome work PNH I need one of these, I’ve had no success with clones. I’ve built a good propagator for seedlings so your machine is next, great article
k ill be the one to ask,. what did u get from seed junky lol
If that’s your smaller pump, you certainly don’t need anything bigger. You’ve got great, even coverage - no dead spots. Now it’s time to put it to work! Water and nutes make a big difference, so just be sure you’ve got that figured out and I predict nothing but success for you. Good job!
Thanks, @Jango! If you make one, please update us here with pics!
Wedding Cake
nice choice! hope there not shit herms like the the triangle kush thread fiasco. poor guys.
you plan on making some beans or pollen collecting ?
Yikes! I guess I wasn’t paying attention to that thread, but after your comment, I just read through it. What a f*ing bummer! The Wedding Cake came from Supreme Seed Bank, but they had the same disclaimer about Seed Junky not replacing any seeds for any reason.
If I do make seeds, let’s just hope it wasn’t due to hermied plants!
I appreciate your post, @204medismoke. Now I’ll be paying even closer attention to any hermie traits showing up.
yes that thread made me feel so bad for otug and pedal 4 months wasted… and the hopes of alot of people and money invested. just a shitty situation. add in wedding cakes notorious tendency to hermie and my fingers are crossed for you. but when things work out with that strain its just such a special smoke. and so frosty, i have nothing but positive thoughts for you!
Thanks, @204medismoke…looks like I’m gonna need it, and then some!
you will be fine!
Do spray nozzles come with different hole sizes and if so which do you use please.
Just search for 360 degree spray nozzles. I’ve bought them from several sources over the years, and the hole size seems rather uniform. Where there is variation is the spray pattern, such as 90 degree and 180 degree.
thanks for the post. Well laid out and looks to be ez to follow. I have been thinking of a cloner and can see cake plates disappearing from salvation armies everywhere as we speak
I get the covers from Walmart. The one I show in the tutorial is probably 10 years old, but I bought another one last week so I have one for each bucket. Just be sure it’s 12 inches in diameter, which is a common size for cake carriers - and also the same size as the top of the bucket!
Ok thanks PNH☺
for the nutes i previously bought a liter of pre-made but i think i’ll go with your recipe for success from the thread instead
and thanks for the help, its nice to have the thumbs up from you.
